  • Does having multiple antispyware software on the system make it more vulnerable to malware?

I was at a local brick and mortor software retailer today when I overheard a store clerk telling another customer that he should only keep one antispyware program on his computer at a time. I remember that the clerk said that having multiple antispyrware programs will leave the computer more vulnerable to malware like trojans, worms, viruses, etc. I want to know if this is true, I have always had two antispyware programs on my system and have never had a problem. I have always had Ad-Aware and Spybot

  • Strange behavior, can't explain it

I have noticed some odd things about my computer system lately. There is no sound when I empty the recycle bin, litterally, it's completely silent. I am starting to miss that sound that is used. Another thing is the animations that are used when folder and file windows are open, closed, minimized, or maximized. Normally when a window opens there is that animation of the window forming, shrinking, growing, etc. Now, the windows just appear or disappear. I am beginning to miss those animations aswell

  • Getting an "out of memory" error when trying to print spreadsheets in MS Works

For some odd reason, today I began getting error messages that say something along the lines of "Out of Memory. Please save or close any open files or applications" whenever I try to print anything from inside the MS Works Spreadsheet. Clicking on "OK" closes the error message and the document then proceeds to print normally. I don't believe this is being cause by something inside my computer itself, it may just be something in MS Works itself. I ran afew tests and have only encountered

It was included with the PC when I purchased it from Dell back in 2005. I re-installed Windows from an installation CD that I requested with the system when I originally configured it.

  • Windows Updates can download but not install, seemingly after install of XP SP3...

Yesterday, I was forced to do an OS reinstall after a browser hijacker somehow got into my system. I tried to remove it several times using Ad-Aware 2007, Spybot, and Norton Internet Security. Scans with all three would turn up multiple malware items each and remove them, only to have the malware show up again the next time the computer was restarted. OK, after completing a complete OS reinstall and finally getting my system to appear to be working normally, I just discovered that updates downloaded

  • System keeps crashing after comming out of standby, need help.

I have been experiancing repeated system crashes leading to a BSOD everytime I leave my system in stand by for five or more minutes. The crash seems to happen as the system is comming out of stand by. At first, I thought that these crashes may have been being caused by a copy of the Microsoft Flight Simulator X I had installed on my system. The first crash took place while I was installing the sim. At that time I had been browsing the net looking for more aircraft and resources for the sim while
