WOW thats great to hear Thanks so much for starting up this forum and helping me. When I got my laptop I thought the light would eventually turn off when you select shut down but now I know there was a fault somewhere on the motherboard :-)

Thanks GiordanosFriend for the update and for the videos I agree with you, there must have been something wrong with a part and it just needed to be replaced. Good to hear that dell came and fixed it for you.

Its so interesting that we are on opposite sides of the planet and we both experience the same problem. I'm very happy that GiordanosFriend posted all those you tube videos to help support our power button problem, I think when you ring up dell support again ask them to look at this forum or even go to the you tube videos. I also went to the dell kiosk and asked the sales guys if I could try shutting down the studio 15. The power button didn't pulsate and it shut down like it should. I was advised by the sales guy to ring dell and ask for a technician to come and actually look at the problem. I was also on the phone with technical support for almost 2hrs while they did everything (shut down, restored factory settings, re-installed/repaired vista, ran a system diagnosis), nothing strange was found and the notebook

Well I know everyone thinks we aren't selecting shut down but I know both randname and I are both selecting shut down and the power light is pulsating. I even had the dell tech support remote desktop to my machine and shut down with me and the tech support had no idea what else to do when I told her the power light was still flashing. I think I am going to format my dell to a clean vista image and if it still doesn't work then I will return the laptop for a new one.
