Hello, I know it took like forever to get back to you guys. I did get the standard ATX power supply (20+4 pin). I connected the 20-pin and 4-pin connector to the motherboard, and the same thing occured, the LED blinks amber. I know the power supply is working because I placed it in another computer, and everything came up OK. Currently in the process of ordering the motherboard replacement, as this is the last resort. Again, thanks for you help.

Dear Tech Support, I have read the documentation to try and troubleshoot the blinking amber light problem. It mentioned that the problem is either the power supply or the motherboard. I removed all peripherals from connection to the motherboard, including all the drives and memory. I disconnected the power supply from the system (also removed any peripherals connected to it) then jumped pins 14 and 15 on the 24-pin ATX connector that attaches to the motherboard. When I plug the power supply cord

This may have been silly on my part to neglect including but I did remove a significant amount of accumulated dust from the case and the heatsink area. In hindsight, this may have been the culprit. Thanks.

shesagordie , Thanks for responding. This is a wierd problem, but now the system is starting up OK. I'm believing that it may have been relating to the ambient temperature at the time. The only difference now is that the system was off for more than 24 hours and the room is a bit cooler now than when I was trying to get it started last time. I don't know if Dell systems startup is affected by the surrounding temperature. Nonetheless, thanks. I will have to continue to monitor it for any further

I have a dell dimension 3000 that wont start properly. When i press the button the light LEDs come on, the fan come on, all for a split second. Then everything shuts off. I checked the switch and made sure it is OK. I made sure the connections from power supply to motherboard is firmly seated. There is a green LED on the motherboard that is lit when the power cable is connected to system and plugged into outlet. I also plugged the power cable into another working receptacle, same thing still occurs
