  • Re: Will an upgrade Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit bought from Amazon work on my OEM VISTA Ultimate 64 bit?

I believe the short answer to your question is, YES!!!!!!!! Your retail Windows 7 Ulitimate Upgrade 64 bit disc will work with you existing vista install. I do not think you should need your XP license code or your Vista license code. In order to clarify, an upgrade disc allows a clean install or an in-place upgrade. An upgrade disc, for vista (and possibly 7 SEE EDIT!!!!), is EXACTLY the same as the full retail disc. The difference is in the price and license. The full version is only for people

  • 8gb of RAM on XPS M1330

The tech specs on the XPS M 1330 says 4gb is maximum. However, if you get online to buy one, you can order it with Vista 64-bit and 8gb of RAM. If I get a 64-bit operating system can I install more RAM than 4gb? Why does dell list 4gb as maximum? Is it something to do with the motherboard or is it just the operating system limitation? Thanks!

Hi, I just got a M1330 and it's great I want to do a triple boot with vista, windows 7, and media direct 3.5. Thanks to zrtom and others on the web who helped me get this far. I used Gparted (from partedmagic.com) to edit my partitions with hopes of achieving the triple boot. I shrank the C: down to 100gb leaving about 180gb unallocated. Then I expanded the extended partition that media direct is on to take up that unallocated space. I created a 100gb window7 ntfs logical partition and a 80gb
