Yes I am employed by dell and work in Consumer Support but I will not deny the policy could be diffrent for SMB/CBG but if Technical Support (Consumer side) agents are sending 64bit disks for system that came with 32bit are infact breaking a written policy which does not make me wrong for not breaking a policy. And if you choose not to accept this as an answer thats fine but that is what the policy states that we cannot swap a 32bit for a 64bit one.

Well if your getting file errors here , check the disk for scratches or smudges and clean it anyways from center out not in circles, then try again if it still happens you may need a replacement disk , and XP Media Center Edition is XP Professional with extra stuff but during the the install it is normal for it to say professional. And for the replacement disk you would just contact the support line and ask for one and they should be able to get you one out as long as your within warranty.

If your system shipped with 32bit OS you cannot switch to a 64bit os but you can switch a 64Bit with 32Bit the reason to avoid any missing driver issues for a 64bit System, and he may of charged you for the disk but if a technician ever were to send a 64Bit os disk when the system came with a 32Bit he would get coached on this pratice and if repeatedly done I wouldn't be supprised if they were let go. but what it was you were charged for I'm not sure what does the invoice say it was.

My suggestion would be to to return the system saying that the previous owner removed the service tag and are unable to get warranty or support on this machine or ask if they could give you a new one but otherwise without a service tag you will be unable to get assitence with that machine. but you could check in the BIOS (F2) on post to see if its listed within there.

Dell can only send send missing media within the first 21 Days of the invoice date its not that we don't want to ship that disks but since they are retail copys and not OEM copys it would cause a licensings issue with Roxio but if Roxio were supplied in a OEM licensens I would imagine it could be replaced without any issues. But in instances like this you could call up roxio show a proof of purchase and Roxio may be able to replace it for free. For in the instance if someone is outside the 21days

A white pixel isn't actualy a dead pixel, but is as good as one, in the instance of a dead pixel there would be no color (not even the output of black) but in this instance a White Pixel is called a hot pixel wher it is always on there is no solution for a hot pixel if so it wouldn't hurt to see if you could get it returned.
