Hello everyone. My father purchased a DELL Inspiron 1100 a few years back. Considering he traveled with it I recommended a power on bios password to keep prying eyes from getting in just in case he lost it or got stolen. A few months back he told me that the power on password no longer works, he has no idea how to change any of that stuff or even navigate the bios so i know it wasnt him who changed it. So after sitting in my apartment for months knowing that it would be a pain in the rear I am trying

thanks for the reply. the password is the power on password, you see the dell boot screen and then immediately followed by the screen prompting for a password. I set it myself and I know (99.99% sure, it's been a few years) that i set the power on and not an HD password. The reason I didnt set the hd pass is cause I know that if the laptop dies you cant connect the HD to an adapter to retrieve data. It just stopped recognizing it outta the blue, now he has a doorstop. So the only option is calling

I purchased the SL7PY here's info from the intel spec site: http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SL7PY but at the end of the day, that upgrade was useless and a waste of 40 bucks via ebay purchase. Instead I ended up putting a pc together and now have my e310 as a test system. good luck

hello everyone. I already posted this question earlier in the week. The helpful person informed me to look into the bios for speedstep or C something and disabling it since that's what causes the throttle down when the cpu is not in use. I am using CPUz to check out the speed of the cpu and it happens even when it's being used and not just idling, and honestly, it just doesnt feel right. Unfortunately I do not have such options in the bios. Currently have A04 (which unfortunately it's

dave, I checked the bios and it contains no info on speedstepping or c1e support. could it possibly be a systemboard jumper setting? maybe a windows xp setting? thanks, ceez

Thanks for the replay dave. i'll dig into my a04 bios and see if i can find and disable those settings.
