  • Re: Help Upgrading a Dell Dimension 8200

You can get this for $40. I take it you know how to replace a CPU? It's not too hard but you have to be careful not to bend any pins. Replacing the Microprocessor Try not to spend too much on your computer because upgrades can cost more than a new system and for a system like yours you wont come close to the performance. That's just my two cents of course. Message Edited by russell_314 on 09-29-2008 09:36 PM

I had a 8200 and while it is a great system that is still powerful enough for chat, web surfing and some games, it does not compare to modern dual core systems. If you must upgrade the only practical upgrade would be a graphics card. To the best of my knowledge no 8 series Nvidia cards were made with an AGP interface. • Re: Changing hard drives how ???

I know they make cables that allow you to transfer your files but I have never used them. I always use an external hard drive and transfer the files to it then put them on the new PC. I have less then 100 GB's of music, pics and other files though.
  • Re: Do yourself a favor and buy a Mac!!!!!!

I don't think it has to do with the amount of PC's they sell but the fact that their support is outsourced to India. You get some guy that can barley speak English asking you questions that are prompted from his screen. I'm not going to jump on the anti-Dell bandwagon since Dell makes a good product but their support is ahh well yea you know. Yes Apple is more expensive and that's how they can afford to pay for the better support. As for coolness well I guess I'm not cool since I don't own a Mac
