Screen replacement for m17x r4

This question is not answered

Hello. I am curious how the screen is replaced on the m17x r4. Are there tutorials on how to replace it?

Also what are the best 1080p models that are compatible with m17x r4 (Not 3D) ?

Thx

  • This is the Owner's Manual, but it also contains Service Manual like content.

See page 57. Once you get down to the top assembly, just take it apart (usually clips, snaps, or screws). Watch some YouTubes about taking apart phones or tablets to get ideas. Be careful and take it slow.

Is your LCD bad or you just want to upgrade it?

  • Thx for the link.

There is a big discount on m17x r4 in the UK but screen option is only 900p. So I was thinking upgrading myself to 1080p.

Edit: Just saw the manual but from m17x r3 videos on youtube they only removed the back cover (lid with Alien head logo) and replaced just like that. Is that not possible with m17x r4?
Since I'm not as comfortable with removing the entire screen inc the hinges.

    1. No, I suggest you buy it complete and just use it.

You might need to replace the LCD and Inverter board. It's going to be expensive if possible at all. It can likely only be done if it offered in the first place (in which case you just buy it like that).

Instead, check res. on the new 2013 Alienware-17 model.
