Alienware USB Keyboard (SK-8165) Purchasing

  • Can you please add the Alienware USB Keyboard SK-8165 (that comes standard with Alienware desktops) to the store so we can buy one?

Seems like it should be included here or in spare parts. Right now, I guess people use Amazon, Ebay, or switch to different make.

The BackSpace key went bad on mine after about 12 months. I kinda like it though...

    1. Low travel keys with a good feel.

    2. Key markings DO NOT seem to wear-off with heavy use.

    3. Has multimedia controls that work without drivers.

    4. Black and says "Alienware" across the top (nice system match).

Please let me know if this will take a long time (or not at all) so I can make other arrangements.

  • Hi Tesla, if you need to acquire this keyboard please send us an e-mail to AWupgrades@dell.com and we will help you as soon as possible

Just to be clear is this the one that you need?

No, the less expensive one that doesn't light up or require any drivers (please re-read original message).

  • Tesla, I too like the keyboard which came with my AW Area 51 ALX , but the number you quoted doesn't agree with mine, being CN OP895N-44751  It shows a lot of different numbers, like 07M-00N2-A02, OP/N OP895N and on another label, LP/N 920-002072 and PID SCO 29CV00+QE

I agree with your points 1 to 3 and 1/2 of 4 (Mine does not have Alienware written on it), Particularly like #2, as all my other Dell keyboards lost there markings very early on those keys used more than others. Even the spacebar wore down.  Also like the backlight aspect none of my other keyboards had.

That would have to be a different keyboard ... mine does not light up. Sounds like that might be the TactX.

  • Right, since saw a pic of the one you have.  Anyway that's the one which came with the PC and it looks like the one in the link from the 2nd post. Anyway I do like it and not sure how the managed to keep the letters from fading notwithstanding that I type "blind" with 10 fingers. LOL. .

I purchased a brand new one from an Amazon re-seller based in Austin, TX. Looks like they got ahold of some excess stock and were selling them cheap.

    Dear Dell,

Please add common parts (or at least the Dell and Alienware branded peripherals) to your online store. This way we can order parts online, securely ... (and don't have to give out our credit card numbers and info over the phone). Even if it was a little more, if it would have been available online, I would have ordered it from you directly.

  • The Dell standard keyboard is nice I have to admit, except, now beginning to wish I had bought the fancy one for the lighting affects.
