Hi

I create a task for inventory a group of server and the task take about 1 second and nothing append.

I create a task for inventory an individual server of that group and that work fine. The hardware invententory is present in server's ressource management.

I use the french version of DMC and all servers in the group have his ressource type "ordinateur Dell" . I had discovered the servers by networking discovery with WMI.

Any idea of the problem?

Ok, when you click on the inventory task results, do the details provide any help?

The computers must be classified as "Dell Computer" under All Devices | Servers in order for inventory to work.

WMI credentials correct?

OMSA on the server?

Also see below:

To view the hardware inventory for a server do the following:

From the DMC Console select Manage | All Devices

From the device tree, go down to the “Servers” node

From the list of servers select a server that is classified as a “Dell Computer”

Right click on that server and start up the “Resource Manager”

The Resource Manager is a type of 1:1 view of the device

In the RM window, select Summaries | HW Summary

This will show the hardware inventory that has been detected on the device.  For a server, this information comes from OMSA via SNMP or WMI (or IPMI).

Ok, so you can get a single inventory task to work, but the group fails.

So it looks like you have server classes of devices that you are working with.  Servers, digital KVM( yes?), storage, etc.

I wonder if you can just try creating an inventory task for "Servers" and see if that completes.

And I think you had a digital KVM (did I see that correctly?).  Try to create an inventory task for the KVM group.

Let's try to break it down a bit more.

In my group, i have just 40 servers. I create a task with a new group of one server and the task indicate 0 server treated.

I dont have any KVM or storage discovered.

Can you try running the inventory task against a _single_ server?  Click the gui control at the bottom of the wizard that allows you to choose a device name.
