Hai....

I know Halloween is over but this is scary, too: We have here DMC 1.0.2. Devices (PE 1855 W2k3 server, CX500, DS-4700M, MD6000) have been discovered and can be seen in the Dell Group View, but after a while (minutes, hours) they all disappear, but they can still be seen in Manage->All Devices, and they are still correctly classified as Dell devices. After a further discovery run they appear again. Any ideas....?

Greetings & Thnx,

stephan.

P.S. & update: after pushing "refresh" (the green arrows) they appear again, BUT if you drill down into a group it is empty (and here "refresh" does not help).

Hi there, thanks for the post.

Not clear.

So the devices show up correctly under All Devices | Servers, All Devices | KVM, All Devices | Storage.  But then they disappear?

Or did you create a new group called "Dell Group View"?

Also note FAQ #15.1 if you have created your own group.

thx.

Rob

Hai....

if you open the "Dell Management Console Portal" there is the webpart "Group View - Aggregate Health by Dell resource". Although already discovered before there are no devices visible in all of the (standard) groups (first) - after a refresh they appear again. But if you drill down into a group there are no entries in the list - even a refresh does not help here.

Greetings,

stephan.

Hi Stephan,

Ok let's look at your server first.

Can you confirm that when you go to Manage | All Devices | Servers, that your PowerEdge shows up in the 'servers' group and is classified as a "Dell Computer"?

Can you confirm that when you run services.msc (MS services console), that the Altiris Monitor agent service is running?

Thanks,

Rob

Hai Rob,

this is a installation on a customer site and my contact is on sick leave until November 18.

But I remember from my last visit on Tuesday and can confirm, that all Dell Devices, including Poweredge servers, are correctly classified and the servers as Dell computers.

I can not confirm at the moment that the Altiris Monitor agent service is running. But when I went to the "Monitoring and Alerting" portal, the "Monitored resources by Status" webpart the pie report showed the status correctly and also the drill down worked here.

That is the current workaround for my customer: I added this webpart to the "Dell Management Console" portal, but he is not really happy with this because it is not granular.

By the way: when will we get a "remove" button in the "Group view -  Aggregate health by Dell resource" webpart...?

Greetings,

stephan.

Remove button?

Did you try to right click on the color status bar and choose delete?  Is that what you are looking for?

For the servers that don't show up in this webpart, are your devices in the "All Dell Servers" group?  Or did you create a new one?

Thx.
