I am reposting this because it seems like dell didnt like the fact that I wanted to upgrade the cpu on my dimension e310. I came back 4 hours later to add a reply to my post and to my surpise I get a "resources cannot be found" error message from the dell forums site. I am very dissapointed...

Hey, I have a Dell Inspiron 530 and I want to upgrade my CPU to a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600. Thinking it works, I bought it and I put it in the PC and try starting up and all I get is all the fans moving the DVD R/W works and the HDD is working but the light won't turn blue and nothing is displayed...

I plugged in a 2.6Mhz Pentium 4 400FSB and when I plugged the power cable into the box, the fan and front light came on. Only thing the front power button would do is turn off the fan and light. I have the latest bios (A06). I reinstalled the original 1.6Mhz CPU and everything runs fine. Bad CPU? Thanks...
