You say it won't boot from CD. I wonder... ... do other CD's boot for you? (Is this perhaps a CD burning issue? I have to ask.) ... how far into the Ubuntu boot process do you get? Does it throw any errors? ... which version of Ubuntu are you using? 7.10. 8.04 or 8.10? Dell version or Canonical...

I just purchased this mini laptop and cannot load Ubuntu. The error I receive is " Failed to start the X server (your graphical interface). It is likely that it is not set up correctly. Would you like to view the x server output to diagnose the problem?" When I answer yes it gives me more errors...

when i put in my xp cd it says cannot install because the version on my
computer is newer to restart computer and hit f12 when i do that and go
to boot from cd it says that it needs a set-up password do not know what
