Inspiron 546 won't start, just beeps once

I have only just got my new inspiron, and when I turn it on, the led in the power button comes on, it beeps once(which is a BIOS ROM checksum failure according to the manual) and then it just does nothing. Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I just have to get Dell to repair it? It also has a bright orange LED on inside it, if that means anything.

Since it is new, and I assume it has never worked, I would call Dell ASAP.

You could try opening the case and check all the cables, cards and memory modules are properly connected, in case one of them became dislodged during shipping.
