Which IEEE 1394 cable do I need for XPS 720 please?

Hi,

First post. I have a Sony mini dv camcorder with a 4 pin jack.  Do I need a 6 pin for my desktop?

Yes, the "ATX standard" firewire port on desktops is the 6 pin. 

Dimension E510 with D925 CPU and Vista Home Premium 32 bit
