Inspiron 530 CPU compatibility

Hello. I need to know SPECIFICALLY what type of CPUs are compatible with the Inspiron 530 (the regular one, not the slim one). I saw the documentation and it said:

Core 2 Quad
Core 2 Duo
Celeron

I'm planning to buy a Celeron for it, but I have no idea which Celeron CPUs are compatible (I know I need LGA 775). Does anyone know the specific models that are compatible?

The above is the link to the supported CPUs. In the L2 Cache part, is it saying that I must have a CPU with at least 512 kb L2 cache? Thanks beforehand.

No, on the Pentium D.

Yes, the Celeron 450 2.2GHz Conroe 512k LGA775 SLAFZ should work.

I don't know what CPU's can be used in the 530, but do not buy a Celeron.  The Celeron's are the "low end" CPU's and do not have all the features of a "full" CPU.

Re: Inspiron 530 CPU compatibility

I see. Thank you for the help so far. Right now I'm looking at the Celeron 450 2.2GHz ConroeL 512k LGA775 SLAFZ Dell, which I suppose will work. However, I'm wondering whether I can use the Pentium D family models, particularly, the:

Pentium D 820 2.8Ghz 2MB 800FSB.

On the dell documentation, it says it will accept Pentium Dual-Cores, and I suppose the one above qualifies (my dell originally came with a core2quad 6600). However, after reading this post, I have very high doubts.

The last post in the page contradicts what the documentation says.

I really don't understand what the problem is with my Dell motherboard. I use the DG33M03 foxconn motherboard, which, on the foxconn website, says is compatible with a bunch of CPUs, the Core2Quad/Core2Duo/Pentium/Celeron. Yet, it's like Dell deliberately crippled the motherboard's compatibility.

While the Inspiron 530 motherboard is a Foxconn, it is made to Dell's proprietary specifications, also the 530 systems were build with two different motherboard versions.

A 0RY007 motherboard, is that it supports Core 2 Duo processors and not Core 2 Quad processors and the 0FM586 motherboard, that supports both Core 2 Quad and Core 2 Duo processors.    Stick out tongue

I have the 0RY007 version in my 530 MT, that limits me to Core 2 Duo upgrades.    Sad

Re: Inspiron 530 CPU compatibility

Hmm, so will my motherboard be able to use the Celeron that I listed?

Will it also be able to use the Pentium D that I listed?
