Avocent DSR2161 and Dell 2161DS remote console compatiblity

Does anyone know if the Dell 2161DS Remote Console Software will work on an Avocent DSR2161? 

or

if Avocent's DSView will work on a Dell 2161DS?

I've been informed that I may be inheriting some surplus KVM's for my lab, but won't get a say in which kind (Avocent's or Dell's) so planning for either or both to come in, i'm looking at remote console options.  Downloading the Dell software is free, but if it doesn't work with the Avocents then that doesn't help me.  Avocent licenses are expensive.  And I would prefer to only have one software app, even if i have to use both sets of hardware.

Unfortunately DSVIEW3 will only support the following Dell switches:

 

Dell 2161DS-2, 4161DS and 2321DS

 

The original Dell 2161DS was EOL before the following products were added for support to DSVIEW3 and requires a firmware change to the 2161DS which will not occur since it is EOL within Dell.

 

The DSR and Dell switches that you have right now will need to be managed seperately from there own applications.
