Old laptop, new hard drive, no internet

Just installed a new hard drive on my lap top and now the internet is attempting to use dil up connection and asking for a broadband username and password? I have comcast high speed internet and I can't seem to get the settings right to allow me to get back online. Any experience/ideas? Thanks.

What operating system?  All your connection settings and cookies are now gone and have to be reset. You will need to set up your Internet Connection all over again. Use the Network connection wizard in XP or the Network and Sharing Center in Vista or Win7. Check Tools, Internet Options in Internet Explorer. Go to Connections tab and make sure Dialup connection is NOT selected.

Re: Old laptop, new hard drive, no internet

what you need to do is open up IE    click tools\internet options\connections  ...click the radio button, never dial a connection
