Laptop displaying 2 red lines horizontally at the botton of screen

Hi,

           I have purchased Dell Vostro 1400, more 1 year old. Currently my laptop screen showing 2 red lines at the bottom of the screen with shadow images which are displaying at the top of the screen. I have updated the drivers but no use. Can anyone know what will be the problem.

Hello,

Do the lines and shadow apear in safe mode as well?  Power on the computer and press F8 to enter safe mode.

Hello Richard,

          Red lines and shadow are appering in the safe mode also. while booting itself red line is appering.

Next question is whether they appear on an external monitor.  If they do, you've a bad video chip or card.  If they do not, you have a faulty display panel.
