I think i might have a virus.

On my desktop computer i keep getting all pop up ads out of no where.  I have Mcaffee for my system protection and it says that part of my puter is unprotected. I clicked on fix for updates and nothing happened.  I tried to do a virus scan and it came up with an error say that it couldnt scan.  Even tried to do a system restore but my comp said that it was turn off by an administrator.  I don't know what to do.

Re: I think i might have a virus.

Alright here's what you want to do go to this link and download malwarebytes, free edition http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button after you install update and run a full scan, after that download superantispyware free edition http://www.superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.html if that should do the trick now I'm not trying do diss Mcaffee but honestly there not that good and have really decreased through out the years now if you bought this stick with it and just run weekly checks with both of those scanners and do not purchase there full versions because there real time protection sucks, I recommend once your subscription is up to go with, free: Microsoft security essentials, or avria, for paid kaspersky. Let me know how you make out

One of the biggest problems that I have is that when i try and go on differet websites and links the internet redirects me to different sites.   This is something that never has happened before.  Tried to use the link you gave me and redirected me to another site.

alright I was fearful of that,  in my opinion it has to be a virus, can you download those off of another computer and put them on a flash drive or cd then copy them on your computer and install
