Re: Problems with USB hard drive

Have you tried a powered USB hub? Sometimes an underpowered USB port (e.g. in the server) could cause a device not to properly come up in the OS.

Re: Problems with USB hard drive

Hi,

thx for the responce, i haven't tried a powed usb hub, the drive has its own power supply so didn't think this would be an issue?

Re: Problems with USB hard drive

If it's self powered it usually shouldn't be a factor (some USB harddrives (2.5") are USB port powered, so I didn't know about yours having it's own powersupply).

You can try a different USB port or a USB hub and see if that makes a difference. Then try a different USB device and see if that works. You'll need to eliminate the different possible causes.
