I'm thinking of getting the aurora alx dual video cards yada yada. It claims there is no room for a stand alone sound card. I have always had a stand alone sound card cuz integrated sound cards used to be real bad. Is this still the case? I don't want a rockin system and poor sound. Is an integrated sound card as good. Please let me know. Thanks for the info or any help you all can bestow upon me.
What!?!?!?! No one can answer what alienware's integrated sound is like. No one? The reason I'm asking is cuz I value sound as much as graphics. I have $2000 THX certified speakers for my computer and don' t want to end up with poor sound
As far as integrated sound and separate sound card to me is debatable. I prefer a separate sound card. My reasons are less stress on the MB plus a good sound card will let you setup a variety of options like 5.1 speakers and different sound modes. Hope it helps.
The aurora with dual vid cards doesn't have enough slots because of the width of the video cards and the type of tower. The area-51 has room for that sound card, but that is the only card that will fit in the machine besides the dual vids. So one extra card will fit in the area-51 vs. the aurora. Your choice among the 3 different cards that they offer besides the twin vid cards. When I built mine I had the same problem, with the aurora, and accidently found that the area-51 could take that extra card. I chose the sound card option with dual vids in an area-51. If you go single vid card you should be able to get more cards into the machine, including the sound card. Good luck.
