Does Dell not believe that Families need to upgrade to Windows 7 too?

Why doesn't Dell list the Windows 7 Family Upgrade pack on their site? Most other places are going to be selling it for $149.99 (like staples http://www.staples.com/StaplesProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&productId=302216&catalogIdentifier=2&cmArea=SEARCH ) . I have several dell made machines I would like to upgrade to Windows 7 why is it not listed when most other SKU's are?

I would love to order this from Dell, I cant understand why Dell would not want to make some sales of this product. Can someone tell me why its not avail or if it will be in the next few days?

So far in none of the places I have asked this question is Dell willing to answer it. Some customers are even allegedly being told that this product doesn't exist. Thats really ironic considering at Amazon it is the #1 selling software product currently http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/software/ref=pd_dp_ts_sw_1

Really Dell, why are you refusing to address this and refusing to give your customers a good deal?

Why are you waiting for Dell??? Why not just go and buy it at Staples or any other retailer that has it? It certainly will not be cheaper through Dell....

I am also in the same situation.  I have 3 Dell Computers and the Family Pack is a great solution for me.  Like you I would prefer to buy from Dell.  The driving force behind that is the fear that I will no longer get XPS support if I buy it at Staples and install it.

Do you ( or anyone else) have any insight it this

I am in the same boat as well rahlquist.  Currently looking to get a second Dell XPS machine and would appreciate the option to purchase the Windows 7 Family Pack.  Its certainly available as you point out and can be also seen very clearly from Microsoft's own website.  Hopefully this will be available soon.

croweec,

This is an article about upgrading to Windows 7. It contains info about a MS Windows upgrade advisor tool . The tool will advisor you whether your current hardware and software will run under Windows 7.

If you order and OEM OS from and OEM they must do the support.

Retail copies are supported by microsoft.

I have been asking the same question of Dell.  Not only do they not offer it at this time, but I was told that if I bought it from somewhere else (even directly from Microsoft) that Dell would not support it since it was not something purchased through them!  How's that for customer support?  I would have absolutely no problem with buying it through Dell, but am reluctant to spend $120 per PC when the family pack is for 3 PCs and sells for $149...But sometime soon I will buy it from Microsoft and deal with the support issues as opposed to overpaying Dell.  Hopefully Dell will realize the error of their ways and start offering it before I reach that point!
