I cannot believe this !

I've ordered my laptop on Sept. 28th, they promised a delivery one week later.

After one week I have received a mail saying that the delivery was reported on October 23rd (almost one month !). Subsequently, I have changed all my trips planned as i needed the laptop for that !

Today, October 22nd, when I check my delivery status I read that my order was placed on priority and that it will be delivered on ... NOVEMBER 23rd !!!!!!!! almost two months ????!!!!!

When I call the customer care, the (courageous) lady repeats that my order is on Production and when I start firmly asking for an explication she just hang on the phone. Easy, no ?

My advice to anyone who needs his delivery on time : DO NOT BUY FROM DELL !!!

(let's see if admin are more courageous than customer care and publish this message...)

I'm sorry for the delay in your order.  I f you private message me your order number, I may be able to check up on what specifically the hold-up is.  Regarding the promised delivery date: The delivery dates we quote are estimated.  We take special care to document that because it's hard to anticipate part backorders, etc. 

PM me your order number and I'll see what I can find out.

This is exactly what had happened to me; I ordered a desktop computer for $1,500 on Sept 30.  I get an email stating that it will be delivered on Oct 27.  I just checked my email today and it stated it has been pushed forward to Nov 3.  I canceled a trip and took vacation time for Oct 27 (to be at my home when it was delivered), so I lost both the trip and vacation time.  Funny how you said they hung up on you.  I got hung up on 4 times and transferred 6 times, with a hold time of over 1.5 hours.  Funny thing is I was not complaining about the push forward date, I was just asking for a little compensation for the delay by changing the shipping format from the 3 to 5 days to a over night delivery.  I explained that I am the Manager of Security and Guest Service for a mall, and when the mall screwed up on something, we take care of our guest by compensating them the best we can; after all they are our guest and we like their continue business with us.  Let’s keep in mind; the customer has the right to shop at another place.

 

So, this is where I stand at this time, if Dell’s attitude towards their customer is this non-caring, and then I will be taking my business to Best Buy (on a side note, I don’t have to wait for over a month for my computer, I can walk home with it that day). 

 

I have been told I can cancel my order all the way to the shipping date, and seeing the date has been pushed forward, that gives me more time to make my decision.  Remember, as a customer, have the right to choose who will be getting my $1,500.

Which country are you in?  I ask because I'll need to track down someone in that country to handle your case (I'm in the U.S.).

I am in France, the sales guy is in Morocco, the factory is in Poland... the only thing i am sure of is that where are my three thousands dollars !!!!

No kidding, they had no problem charging my credit card.  I wish I could tell them an ETA when Dell will get thier money and then push that forwards.

order delay mainly caused due to the availability of the spare parts... oh man is the order delays still happening... dell should give some sort of guarentee.... that with in perticular time that no matter what the laptop is gonna be delivered...

My delivery date is 11/05/09. But till today it shows as IN Production.  I have no hope of getting this delivery on time. Can any one tell what si the holdup?

Definitely Do Not BUY. MY Delivery Date is now 11/30/09 ordered it 9/28/09.

Rude Customer Service.... Its like talking to the WALL!!!

NO HELP Should Cancel Order.!!!!

Here is my experience... I am about to cancel my order and get HP with same spec... It is unexceptable... I placed an order on 10/01, and was told the estimated delivery date is 11/04 which is just an estimated date and i would get the laptop sooner... Now the estimated shipping date is on 11/25... It is the i7 processor that is on backorder but that is not my problem. They should not offer it if they can't get enough of those

Mallenado -  What  model are you getting from HP? might get the DV8t and the they can ship 11/10 and The specs seems to be better and it has the bigger screen -  blu ray rom. Worst of all DELL is not even compensating us for our waiting time.  Just a you can cancel if you like!!!! What a way to do business these days.

Please let me know which HP you are thinking of getting as a replacement for this one.

I have a similar story.

Ordered 9/28/09, estimated ship on 10/27
Order delayed on 10/27, new updated estimated ship date 11/3 (even though I called a week earlier  and the guy on the phone said everything was on schedule).
Order cancelled on 11/2 (today).  Dell resubmitted my order without my consent or the option to cancel (that seems shady as heck).
New order now in pre-production, estimated to ship on 11/24!

Like the rest of you I'm very puzzled why all the delays.  It was especially irritating the fact that Dell waited until the day it was supposed to be delivered to tell me I had a one week delay, only to delay it an entire month again.  If it really is going to be another month I'm just going to order a Mac or a Sony Vaio since my current computer is on its last legs.  Judging from the past sequence of events, I'd be surprised if it did ship on 11/24 or even before the January without another delay.  Is it really the Core i7 that is causing the delays?

I'm really frusterated with getting transferring all over to different departments, no one at Dell seems to know anything helpful.

I ordered the Dell Studio XPS 1645 as advertised on the website... and it is the most expensive one from the series. They told me they are short with processor i7... as I said they should not advertise it if it's not available.

I have done some research cause I wanted the laptop with similar specs. I found the HP which is bigger then Dell, it is 17", and the memory is 6gb of RAM, 500gb hard drive, basically everything is the same and better for less, price is 1299.99, Windows 7 included.  Oh, did I mention it is available at BestBuy. No order and wait... Go - buy - enjoy!!! It is HP - Pavilion Laptop with Intel® Core™ i7 Processor Model: dv7-3085dx | SKU: 9556312

I don't think I will wait any longer. My plans are to call tomorrow and cancel the order. Sick and tired of this... I am full time employee, mother, wife and a student. I wanted a laptop so I can use it in every spare minute I have to study, my old one broke, and I am asking other people to use their computers. I am going to school for programing and have to have extra programs on my pc. I can't do that on a computer that is not mine. I can't believe I have to go thru this. I wish I had seen the HP before I placed my order with Dell.

CHABABA that is an amazing accounting of your attempt to purchase a XPS 16 from Dell! Had I not read it with my own eyes i would have thought someone was mocking me! ONE WEEK turn around...ouch, that leaves a mark!

This is the exact experience I have had as well, from initial order dates, change in delivery, and finally the WAY out there 11/23..."oh yes you will surely have it on or before" new estimated delivery date!

Had you included a line stating they actually cancelled your order, and reissued it under another number I would have fallen out of my chair! The next Dell rep that tells me I only recently placed my order and will have to be patient while those before me have their systems built is going to hear me blow a fuse i am affraid!

It is certainly not a good day to be working at DELL... Dell it IS your fault if you cannot complete our order because your suppliers delay/ backorder products, you should not advertise their availability if you cannot complete the order as advertised.

it is simple....PULL THIS ITEM FROM YOUR WEBSITE UNTIL YOU HAVE AVAILABILITY!
