Dell Studio 15 Lap wont switch on!

Have you contacted Dell via chat or phone about your blue screen issues? Also when you say that the system won't turn on. Are you saying that you get no power or you can't get to Windows? When you press the power button on the system do you get any lights at all? If so what lights come on and how long do they stay on?

hi - i phoned a number but its not open on a sunday!  the light on the power cable is on, the little light on the laptop where cable plugs in comes on and the white light around the power button is illuminated but the screen stays black!  usually when i switch it on i can hear a whirring noise but there is nothing.  like the machine is dead! i dont even get as far as my password screen!! 

Thanks for the reply. Well you could have loose or bad memory. When the memory is loose or bad, video will not work. To run tests on the system you can turn the system off. Then hold down the FN key and press the power button. When the tests run it's important that you watch and see what lights come on and stay on. You should be watching the Caps Lock, Number Lock and Scroll Lock lights.

For support what number did you call? Dell support is 24/7 - Try going to Dell chat with the service tag of the system with the issue. www.dell.com/chat

i called 0844 444 3600 and 5818.  what nr should i be calling?  ive tried the dell chat with tag info but it wont allow me access! 

if you could let me have the nr il go ring them and il also try your test.

Sorry the tests didn't start for you.  I just noticed that Dell Support in the UK isn't 24/7 unless you have an XPS system. It seems that they don't work on Sunday at all. I'm very sorry. Here is something you can try in the mean time. You should try reseating the memory. Here is how.

Hi - my laptop ended up going back to Dell for repairs.  They didnt tell me exactly what the repairs were but reading the paperwork that came back with it (very technical wording), it looks like the the LCD was replaced completely.  The hard drive was fine as it came back with all my files on it.  I suspect the graphics in the screen were faulty.  it was away for about a week, uplift, repairs and return were quite quick.  Phone them and arrange a collection asap and you should get next day uplift.  its working perfectly now and ive not had one problem with crashing/blue screen/freeezing.  Hope this helps.
