DELL not small business friendly!

Hopefully, this thread will help many in my current situation who are still having this issue.

I applied for a DELL business account a few days ago and was excited to get approved instantly.  I continued on with my purchase, as I was instructed to, and the order was placed using the approved line of credit.  Well, that was just the beginning of a frustrating ordeal with DFS.

The next day, I looked online and thought that maybe what I chose was not the best product for me as I saw a better one.  So, I called to changed my order.  Big mistake!  I spoke to a sales rep, Wayne to be exact, and he cancelled the first order and placed another then stated that I had to be transferred for verification of this order.  I said to myself, weird, but no problem.

After being on hold for about 2 minutes, someone from the verification department answers and asks me for my customer number, so I comply.  She said that she had to verify my business which again, wasnt a problem.  Then, here we go, she tell me that she apologizes but my business could not be verified.  I asked her how could that be when I have been in business for two years and I was just approved for a line of credit.  She said that the credit was not the problem it was the verification of my business.  So, I asked her what could I do to supply them with what they needed in order to prove that it was me and my business.  Well, she started to talk like a robot and just said that the business could not be verified and that if I wanted to pay for the order with another different method of payment than she could transfer me to the sales department.  Again, wouldn't answer any questions let alone listen to anything I had to say.  The call was ended.

For the next 2 to 3 days, I kept calling back with the same outcome.  Even email the executive office and they forwarded the message to Esperanza who asked form the customer number so that she could so called look into it for me.  The next day still no response and the day after that.  I emailed her again and she stated that she was waiting for the verification department to get back to her.  Emailed her again, guess what her response was?  You guessed it, my business could not be verified and I could be call in with another method of payment.  UGH, unbelievable!  I emailed her back and said this, "I waited two days for you to get back to me to only have you tell me the very same thing that the verification department said which was what prompted the email to you in the first place.  I should have known.

I offered to send these people my business certificate from the state for my business, bank account information, you name it, and still, nothing.  On top of this mess, the account cannot be closed and items ordered will be kept on hold until the business can be verified by them.  Grant it, it's supposed to be for one's protection but how can you fix a problem when you dont know what the problem is?

I mean, yea I could go and use another method of payment but that won't solve the problem.  I wanted to know why they couldn't verify the business so that it could be corrected so that nor myself, nor anyone else would go through this again.  They treat you as though you are trying to fraud them from the jump start.

So, this prompted me to do some research online about DFS.  Well, whoa, omg, the reviews on this same problem is overwhelming!  I mean the rating under the
BBB is an "F" and believe me I was so upset now.  I should have done my research before even applying for credit.  (This is what I read online guys)  So many people ranting and raving about the same thing.  In a sense I felt kind of good as I was not the only one going through this but, this is just horrible.

Again, I think that if there is a problem I think the best DFS can do is let you know so that you can correct it.  If not for them, for the next company.  Many of us are new to this and are learning as we go along.

The lack of assistance is unbelievable.  Like I said, they treat you as if you were a criminal giving you minimal informartion, no explanation, just, you can pay using a different payment method.

If anyone has gone through this or is at this time, please, feel free to contact me.  I would love to know how you made out afterall.  Again, even after you email the big guys, the really dont care.  They brush it off by forwarding your email to the very same people who are not assisting you in the first place.

I have not contacted the BBB and I first wanted to give them the opportunity to let me know what is wrong so I can fix it and beside, I dont think they need anymore bad reporting.  But, I am tempted.  We'll see how everything goes.

I mean, how do you get approved for credit inputting the same information you're giving to them but yet they cant verify it?

GO FIGURE~Crying

Re: DELL not small business friendly!

Wendy,

I feel for you. Dell is NOT Business friendly and they as of today just lost me as a customer!!!!!

I was approved in 2006 and have had a lease with them for my company which will expire in 2010. Just like you I placed an order using my available credit and everything went through. About a week later I look at the status as I have not received any more confirmations from them. When I went to look at the Status it said "Canceled"!! Never an email or anything else...never. Then , believe it or not a business associate purchased us a better product for our office than what was on the "Dell" site.

Two weeks later in the mail I received a "Bill" From "Dell" welcoming us to DFS and also to our "Second Lease". I was floored to say the least. I then proceeded to call DFS to explain that my lease was canceled by them and that this was an invalid lease as "NO" product was ever shipped. What they said next even floored me more...... I was told by DFS that they could not look at my account as it needed to be verified. Now mind you..... I have a current lease with Dell that I have had since 2006 which will expire in 2010....I have been paying every month on time and I have HISTORY with this company. When they transferred me to "Verification" they to told me that they were unable to Verify me (My Company) even though we have been at the same company address since 2003.... the same address that the equipment was sent to. The only thing that I could even think was that a phone number has changed. I was on with them 4 times yesterday and 3 times today. All with the same RUDE Robotic Secretive info on how there is/was nothing more they could do!!!! They even stated that they get their info from public information and we are listed with the Secretary Of State in California, We are D&B listed and Equifax listed.

It is kind of ironic how Dell can justify sending a bill to my company every month but I can not discuss my bill with anyone as is has a HOLD on it. Why would Dell even be sending a bill to an address for a Company as they themselves can not even verify you??? In a way I appreciate the security but common.... I asked what I can send in to prove my identity.....I even asked if they could send me something and their poor excuse was "what we do is private!" They "Dell" are the ones that make you feel like you are the criminal/ terrorist  when in fact... Yesterday alone my on hold wait time and then agent time then getting transferred to some foreign country where English is not even their basic language was Horrible to say the least!!!

Now...GO GIGUREAngry

Re: DELL not small business friendly!

Hi Kei-Hy,

I am so sorry to hear that you too are going through this frustrating situation.  It clearly does'nt make any sense.  I actually tried again on Monday and again was told that my business could not be verified but, this time they told me that an investigation has been launched and gave me a case number and a website so that I may be able to follow up check the status of their investigation.  I did check it but of course it states that they expect to have a completion of the investigation by October 23, 2009.  Unbelievable.

Oh, now that you have placed your experience here be assured that Mr. Robert P. will try to contact you.  You will get excited as now you will feel that someone from DELL is willing to assist you with your issue.  Please don't bother.  I did the same thing and all that was done was that he told me that he spoke to someone and that they will be contacting me by telephone to try to assist me but, of course, no one ever called.

Anyway, I received a message from another person that is going through the same issue with DELL and she did tell me about tigerdirect.com.  They too have everything you may need and we able to help with business financing.  So try them.....also HP does lease options and financing options as well.  Its just better to call them.

Please keep me informed.  Oh before I forget, try the BBB and tell them what you have experienced with DELL.  Trust me, DELL already has a poor rating with them and I'm sure that they would love to hear from you.  Besides, everybody can't possibly be wrong.

I will let you know how the investigation turns out.  Let me know if you have any luck or find any other great vendors out there.

Wendy

Hello Wendy,

Don't worry about anyone from Dell contacting me or my company as they will not be acknowledged!!!!

Just to update you I have filed with the BBB against Dell.... Here is the case!!!

Consumer's Original Complaint :

Dell's Business Verification has left me with an invalid lease and a current lease which I am unable to discuss with Dell Financial Services.

For the past week I have been going back and forth with Dell's Business Verification Dept. I have been in business since 2003 and have a current lease with Dell Financial Service. Currently, I placed an order on their website only to find it canceled 3 days later. On 9/17/2009 a new second lease bill was sent to my company for the products that were canceled by Dell Financial Service. When I called Dell DFS to explain my situation and to have them cancel this NEW lease so that I do not become delinquent the Dell Financial Service Rep told me they could not look at the account due to it being frozen by the verification dept. I have spoke to the Verification Dept for the past three days and they for some reason still can not Verify my Company. Even though I have a Current existing lease with them. My company info has NOT changed since the 1st lease was taken out in 2006 and where the equipment was shipped. The only piece of information that has changed is my business phone number but they make it impossible  for a current customer with a relationship with that company to conduct any business either regarding my current acct or the bogus new lease that was created which I have a bill for that No merchandise was received for. What baffles me is how could they even send me current bills for my current lease as to them they would be sending to an Unverified Business?? Customer service in the Verification dept is very RUDE... Will not explain to their business customer what WE can do to help them verify as My business is listed with the State Secratary Of California, D&B and Equifax. We are public as well as the information again which has never changed except for a telephone number.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

Account Number:

Order Number:

Consumer's Desired Resolution:

I need my acct verified or explain to me what Info I can send you to prove it is me and my company.I need the second lease canceled and refunded as I will be in default with Dell on 10/11/09 for products that I never received. If my acct can not be Validated then do not expect payment on any current lease as you would be sending invoices to an UNVERIFIED BUSINESS!!!!

Re: DELL not small business friendly!

Well Kudos to you KEI-Hy!  If everyone was to stand up like us and make some good noise they would be repremanded for the type of business they are conducting.  It's amazing how DELL can post on their website that they have received an excellence award for their services.  For what services?  This is the question I most definately would like to be answered.  It's just amazing.

What they have done to small business owners is just unacceptable to say the least.  Do they really think that a person, like you and myself, would go through all this hassle if we were trying to steal someone's identiy?  I mean, it's great to be cautious but this is rediculous.

So glad you finally filed.  Hey, let me know how it goes and I will do the same.

Ps. Many people just choose to go to other vendors and not take a stand for themselves but, at the end of the day, it's the principal of it all that matters.  Again, kudos to you my friend.

Re: DELL not small business friendly!

hi,

I just wanted to give you an update.  well, I have received a response from the BBB and they are investigating all these issues that you, myself, and many others are having with DELL's verification tactics.  Again, DELL has stated that they are investigating, which I think is just a crock of you know what, since they supposedly started on the 23rd of september.  I mean, I have been checking the site they told me to check for updates to the investigation and there is nothing there as far as their progress.  I know for a fact that it doesnt take that long.

I think that the next step we should take should be bigger.  Again, its the principal of it all.  I just cant understand how so many of us are going through this.  I could see maybe 1 or 2  but this is well beyond the hundreds.

I hope that someone out there has had their issue resolved.  If so, feel free to join in this thread to let us now how your experience went.

Re: DELL not small business friendly!

WOW!!! and I was planning on a new server this week and was going to apply...think I will skip and look elsewhere.

I generally have been happy with DELL but the few times I have had problems they were never resolved to my satisfaction because the bureaucratic run-around they make us go through.  The server is a little more then $5k so I thought I would apply and make payments instead of using up cash.  Glad I read this first.

Re: DELL not small business friendly!

HI Themikey,

Kudos to you for not going for it.  There are so many other companies that will give you exactly what you needed without all the hassles.  Believe it or not, today is October 13 and I have yet to receive a response from DELL's so called investigation.  The BBB have given them until the 23rd to respond and I guess, due to all the poor service you get from them anyway, they will wait up until that exact same day to respond.  There are so many other people going through this same mess that they have all turned to BBB as well.   I hear that TigerDirect is awesome.

Thanks for your feedback!  Believe me, it helps many.  I really hope that whom ever reads this thread can benefit from it and opt not to deal with all this nonsense.

Take Care!

Re: DELL not small business friendly!

Hi all,

just wanted to give you guys yet another update.  Well, I had someone from DELL call me and basically asked a few questions about my entire ordeal.  Yet again, I had to explain it all.  After explaining, she asked me to go to my bank where I do business and get a letter notorzied basically explaining that I placed the order and all this other mumbo jumbo so I did.  After, I called her just to make sure that she had received the information which she did.  She told me to wait about 1 week for everything to be updated and that they would be releasing my order.

GUESS WHAT..........it's about 2 weeks now and no call, no order released, nothing.  OMG!  Called DFS, they are telling me that my account was sent over to a collection's department for nonpayment.  Payment for What is my question!  I never received anything from DELL but a freakin headache and a bunch of aggravation and that all came free.

PLEASE DONT BUY FROM DELL!  I CANT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!  GOOGLE SEARCH THEM AND YOU WILL SEE ALL THE COMPLAINTS!

Re: DELL not small business friendly!

hello everyone, since i have been updating you on my experiences with DELL, I thought  it would only be fair to update the good as well, not just the bad.  Well, after I did everything that the person who contacted me told me to do, time came and time went and nothing.

Finally, just the other day, that very same person that tried to help me before called me and told me that everything was cleared and that the hold on my account was removed and my order is free to be released.  still i was skeptical, so i waited spoke to the same sales person who has been patient with me all along and placed my order once again.  I received an email that my item has shipped.  Still, I couldn't believe it so I waited.  well, yesterday, my order arrived.  I was shocked!!!!! I mean really.

So my advice to everyone is this, if you know that you are right and have done nothing wrong, be persistent!  After all, you have nothing to lose.  To me it wasnt just that I was approved for the credit, it was that I felt like they thought and treated me like i was some kind of crook.  So i did what i had to so that they could be assured that I wasnt.

Just have patience!
