AIO 922 Print Problems - roller causing streaks

I run Windows Vista 64. I have updated all my drivers. I have owned my 922 for about 2 years and have never had any problems. About 4 months ago the printer started streaking. It also shows doubled up blurred lines next to the white/light streak marks - a sign that printing over printed lines occurs. The blurred lines and streaks occur as a distinct pattern on the printed page.
Each set of blurred lines and streaks are spaced exactly 1/2 inch thick. Then there is a gap of normal print which is spaced exactly 1 inch thick. This pattern repeats itself across the entire space of the page. In addition to this, I can watch the print action occur and hear the roller gears crank as it turns, makes a noise, and leaves the white lines.
i have looked inside the printer to see if there is anything caught but, it's difficult to see.
The strange thing is that test pages generally print perfectly. The "Clean to fix horizontal streaks" option prints perfectly as does the "Align to fix blurry edges" The only Dell option that does not print well is "Print a test page" which always has streaks.
Is there a solution to this problem? Please advise in detail.
Thanks
