Why so expensive?

Hi everyone and happy Independence Day.

Today I customized  computer Studio XPS 435
My Components:
PROCESSORS Intel® Core™ i7-920 processor(8MB L3 Cache, 2.66GHz)
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition SP1, 64-Bit
WARRANTY AND SERVICE 1Yr Ltd Hardware Warranty, InHome Service after Remote Diagnosis
OFFICE SOFTWARE Microsoft® Works 9
MEMORY 6GB Tri-Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz - 6 DIMMs
HARD DRIVE 750GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive edit
OPTICAL DRIVE Single Drive: 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability
MONITOR No Monitor
VIDEO CARD ATI Radeon HD 4670 512MB
SOUND CARD Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
SPEAKERS Dell A525 30 Watt 2.1 Stereo Speakers with Subwoofer
KEYBOARD Dell Studio Consumer Multimedia Keyboard
MOUSE Dell Studio Optical Mouse
MODEM No Modem Option

Price - $1249 plus $39 S&H

Then I compared it to HP Pavilion Elite e9150t and couldnt belive my eyes. The same components or even higher (video card 1GB) and no charge for S&H  with price of $931.99.Excuse me my ignorance but why is so big (for me,retired grandpa) difference?
My new computer supposed to be Dell.Hmmm...now I am not sure.

Re: Why so expensive?

Perhaps it's a pre-emptive discount for the specter of having to deal with the worst technical support in the industry (HP/Compaq)?

While there are alternatives to Dell, I would strongly suggest you look around to see what you might wind up getting yourself into with an HP system.
