Syncing iPhone 3G S with Inspiron 537ST

Hi. I am having trouble syncing my iPhone 3G S. Contacts synced, but when and if music syncs, it is incomplete - has voids, music stops then continues later in the song. I get a message that the devise cannot be read from or copied to. Please....what do I need to do? Thanks.
