dell 1650 PERC 3/Di

perc 2.8...
I am NOT using disk 2(third) (right bay is empty!), so I am dealing with two disks 0,1 and raid -1 only!

How can I mirror DISK using Adaptek BIOS - ctrl-A
or; How can I add missing drive to container #0 , when container is in degrade state.

Bios does NOT offer to add unused disk from bay 1 (middle) when on diks0 I have raid-1 degraded container?

Looks like this bios is useless, you loos the disk and cannot recover the raid container?

I have disk 0 (left ) , original, after shtting down the system!, in the bay 0, start the system, container-0 degraded, and when i put is disk 1 (middle
bay) nothing happens!

Any sugestions?

Perc 3/Di rebuild issue

Michael_Christensen2 at Dell.com 

On the Perc3/di controller you have to assign the new drive as a
hotspare before it starts rebuilding.
If you have anything older than a 2.8.1.7692 firmware, I would also
update the controller firmware as soon as possible - the older versions
are a bit finicky. 
Note: you might have to update your BIOS and ESM before you can update
the controller firmware.

I found above, I will check - if assigning hotspare solved the problem; just for the future reference :-)
