Dell Inspiron Mini 10 (Sam's Club)

Hi Group,


I just recently purchased a Dell Mini 10 from Sam's Club. I charged the laptop for several hours before turning on laptop for the first time. After I got everything configured the way I like it, I went on battery power.  This is when I noticed the whistle/sizzle sound it now makes part of the time while on battery.  I haven't narrowed this down to any certain program or setting.


Has anyone else experience this noise with the Dell Mini 10?


The laptop is still under warrenty so I'm not worried, just would like to know if this could be a battery problem.

If you aren't hearing the noise with the AC adapter, you shouldn't be hearing it on battery power, either. I haven't noticed any strange noises like that on my system. I'd be suspicious about it and pay attention to things like how long the system runs on battery power before needing a charge -- routine stuff like that. If it discharges abnormally fast, that's a clue and something Dell might replace the battery for under warranty.

my mini 12 does it constantly; it's a very quiet sound, but still. started about a three days after i got it. did you figure out anything?

Hi,

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this? I have a mini10 that regularly make this shwishy / whistley sound.

I've had no luck with Dell on this issue, I need to speak to them again about this and might just do it tonight.


Will keep you posted on what I find.

Hi Group,

 

I finally had a chance to get with Dell on the mini issue. They ended up sending me a new battery for the laptop and I installed it this morning and will test it today.

I'll post what I find tomorrow sometime.

That's good news! I had another two mini10's delivered yesterday and neither present the same noise issue. I look forward to hearing the outcome of the new battery test.

Hi Group,

 

The new battery seemed to fix the issue, the only noise I hear now is the HDD!
