Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435/8000/9000?

My ship date is 3/30. 

Est Ship Date 3/31 --- currently 'In Production' - 'Build phase'

I ordered 2/27 and ship date is 3/30

I received delivery of a Studio XPS Desktop 435MT about two weeks ago and so far I am very pleased with the performance of this PC.

The out of the box configuration includes an i7-920 2.66 GHz processor w/6 GB of RAM.

One common complaint with these PCs is the internal case fan is loud (mine was) so I have replaced it with an Antec double-ball bearing 80mm case fan and now the PC operates very quietly.

I also recommend adding a 2nd internal HDD and enabling RAID 0 on this platform to boost its performance.

The only "nagging" issue I am experiencing, which is not affecting the performance or operation of my desktop, is in the event log I keep getting a 4621 error message logged that I cannot seem to resolve.

they are talking about the new stuido xps 435 , not the 435mt. i have one on order and its in production phase but it hasnt even been kitted.

I do welcome comments from recent (Feb09) 435MT buyers since it seems the redesigned 435T is a descendant.

The question I have for the recent 435MT purchasers is, do you have any buyers remorse since the design change?

I had ordered a 435MT a day before they broke out the new design. Luckily there was a glitch in the configuration so I was able to cancel and reorder the newly announced 435T at 25% off!

As a side note, this is my first Dell, I'm guessing the MT stands for mini tower and the T for tower. Any thoughts?

Originally ordered 2/26/09 - needed to alter the order - forced a cancel/re-order on 3/1/09.  Currently showing on the order page as "In Production" with a delivery date of 3/30/09.  When calling the status line - states it's currently in the "Build Stage" with an estimated ship date of 3/23/09.  Assuming that's correct - expectation would be that it would be at my home by 3/30/09.... :)

I called the automated order status line at 800-433-9014 and found my estimated ship date is 3/25 with delivery date of 4/1.

It looks like they use a standard 7day add to the delivery date for ground shipping.

I'm assuming they are shipping from Texas so based on your proximity to Texas actual delivery time may vary.

I found this interesting tidbit on a reporters blog who toured the Dell factory in 2005:

"The average time it takes a single system to be built, once it is ordered, is five hours. The record is one hour. In other words, once somebody ordered a PC on the Dell site, and one hour later it left the factory on its way to them. All Dell desktop PCs are built to order; there is no stock of pre-built machines waiting for orders.  It costs more to ship a Dell PC than to assemble it (not surprising, considering how fast their assembly people are)."

It seem like things have changed quite a bit since 2005!

I ordered mine on 3/1 so that gives me some hope that mine might be shipping in the next week or so....thanks for posting your update - and look forward to hearing your initial thoughts on it when you receive it!

Mine shipped yesterday (3/11) and is scheduled for delivery on 3/14.  Unfortunately I will be out of town that day!
