I recently had to reformat my harddrive. upon reinstalling roxio I cannot get it to open. I get a message saying my drives are disabled. I need to either physically remove the drive(s) or enable on. I do not have a disabled drive. everything is working fine except roxio. what can I do to fix this? this was a dell issued disk with my computer. roxio has absolutely no information on roxio creator premier. I running windows vista
Welcome to the forums
What model system do you have?
After you reformatted the hard drive, and reinstalled the OS, did you then reinstall/update all the drivers?
You should've received all the drivers etc on discs you got with the system, but you should check for updated drivers on the 'Drivers & Downloads' page for your system, on the Dell website
It's also important to install them in the correct order?
Not doing so, can have adverse effects on the system.
PS: The downloads section will likely also include an update for Roxio Creator Premier (under the 'Applications' heading)?
Make sure you also download/install it, before running the program again
From experience, I've found that: “Beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder”!!

I have the studio 540 running vista 64 bit.
I had a disk with all the correct drivers and applications good for my computer. I went down the list from top to bottom. Everything seems to be working just fine. I am able to read and burn using other programs. I will check for updates, however, I don't remember seeing that particular update the last time I was on the website. I appreciate your help.

Did you get this resolved? I have the same situation with my XPS M1530 running Vista 32 bit. I also installed all the drivers on the disk so I don't think that is the problem.
Chaps, it would be very grateful if the solution is posted here, upon resolved. I got a Studio 15 Laptop in August 2009 (Windows Vista 64 bit). After setting up the system from scratch, using the delivered software CDs (!), I was faced with the same problem. Roxio would not start. On the first start there was an error message about not activated drives, then Roxio crashed. Since then no message at all, and no reaction when starting Roxio Creator. I phoned the technical support. They linked me to the (chargeable) software support. They said they have a solution but wanted about 30 Euros for it. Incredible! You bought software, which seems to have incompatible interfaces, and then they want money to fix it! I thought I bought a working system (including delivered software disks, which should be the same as initially installed on the comuter). As for me, I am not willing to pay for bugs delivered by Dell. The hotline said the problem could be solved by software updates, so I installed all Windows patches and searched the Roxio- and Dell- Websites for updates. I found one Roxio Creator update for fixing such an issue, but the patch is only for Roxio Creator Premier 10.1. My version is -of course- 10.2 and the patch does not work (I tried). However, I hope a solution is comming up soon and it would be appreciated by many people if someone (and this includes Dell-support) would post a fix to this problem. I am trying to sort it out myself, but without success yet. However, I will add a new post if I find a solution an hope anbody else will too.
Can you post the solution if you can fix the problem. I have exactly the same probleme with my new XPS730x VISTA 64 bits and Roxio Creator Premier Blue-Ray 10.2:
After a complete reinstallation of the system with the right drivers coming from Dell CD or Dell Support, Roxio Creator can be reinstalled but it cannot run. it show a message like this : "All your lectors are desactivated ...." But my lectors are activated and work with windows burning program !
Thanks a lot for your help
I did not find a proper solution. It might have something to do with some windows updates. What I did: I created a new partition on my hard disc and installed Windows Vista from scratch. Then I downloaded all vista updates. Afterwards I re-installed all software and finally Roxio worked. Please don't ask me why - I have no idea.
It is a bit of work and it is not the proper solution for the problem, however, it is a way which worked for me and it might work for you too. Good luck.
