Nvidia sata controller drivers needed for reinstallation of non-Dell Windows
When you are doing the install and it says to hit F6 to add drivers - put these files on a floppy disk and follow the instructions after you hit F6.

Black screen, fans and lights on
Reinstall the nVidia MediaShield SATA driver

Buzzing noise from power supply
Contact Dell Technical support and have them swap out your power supply for part number NG153.

Error code 10, cannot initialize
Disable /PAE and /NOEXECUTE in the boot.ini.

Incorrect Intel CPU sticker
If your XPS 700 came with an Intel Core 2 Duo case sticker , you can request the correct Intel Core 2 Extreme Case sticker for FREE. You will either need to fax or mail proof of purchase, your name and mailing address to Intel. The fax number is 408-765-9576. The mailing address is as follows:

The chassis light color can be disabled or changed in System Setup under the Onboard Devices key
* Enter System Setup
* Highlight Onboard Devices and press Enter to expand options
* Highlight Front LED Color and press Enter
* Use the left-arrow or right-arrow keys to select the desired color
* Press Enter to select the color
* Exit System Setup if finished and reboot the system

Intel 590 chipset capabilities The following items can be addressed with BIOS updates:
* VT
* 800MHz DDR2 support
* NVIDIA EPP (Enhanced Performance Profile) memory option removed from the 590
* Voltage control on the CPU
* FSB overclock limitation of 25%
* Lack of overclocking options in the BIOS
* XP 64-bit Core2Duo support

These items would need a new motherboard
* NVIDIA FirstPacket technology
* NVIDIA HDA (Azalia)
* Kentsfield (Quad Core) support
* Non-proprietary 20 pin power connector
* NVIDIA DualNet dual Gigabit

Erroneous FPU Error Exception Test failure message
Install the latest Dell Diagnostics

The XPS 700 Motherboard Upgram Program ended on October 15, 2008. The only options you have now are to either contact Spare Parts (1-800-372-3355) and see if they have these parts or find them on the web.
