2208WFP flickers at 1680x1050 but not at lower resolution

I have a 2208WFP hooked up as the external monitor on an HP notebook (ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 graphics, 256MB).

There's a shimmery, flickery look to many windows and type elements when I set the resolution to 1680x1050. The only way to get rid of it is to step the resolution down to 1280 wide.

I've updated the drivers for both the monitor and the graphics card.

Any suggestions?

I have a similar problem, but mine turns green at higher resolutions, only through HDMI though, not through VGA, do you have that same problem?

I'm seeing it on VGA, haven't tried the others.
