A little question ;)

Hey all,

Sorry if this is one of the 9999 noob question in this matter, but i just had to ask :)

I couldnt find out if i can replace the graphic card in my Dell Xps M1710 laptop, it has a GeForce 7900 Go GS Graphix Card,

Ya know if its integrated? or can i simply replace it with a newer one?

Peace one love,

Re: A little question ;)

The video card you have is actually very good.  Laptop video doesn't have a connection standard.  Both Nvidia and ATI are working on developing one, but I haven't seen many laptops with it.  I think Nvidia calls it MXM or something like that.  Traditionally, it has been impossible or difficult to upgrade laptop video.  In your case, it may not be worth it.  Check this page out, it has a list of laptop graphics and their performance benchmarks.  You'll notice that the Geforce 7900 score very well.  After looking this over, you may not want to upgrade your graphics card.  You can overclock it though.  There is a program called RivaTuner that allows you to customize your graphics card clock and VGA bios settings.  Be careful though, and turn it up a little at a time, because you can overheat your card by clocking it too high.

The website is: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html

On this site, there is also a list of processor performance numbers and reviews of every laptop made.
