USB 2.0 Compatibility With 1.0

Hello,

I am interested in purchasing the Kingston 8 GB Data Traveler USB Flash Drive featured on this site but I have a compatibility concern that I've not been able to find a clear answer to.

The device has a high speed USB interface (I'm guessing this is 2.0, right?). But what if you plan to transfer files between a system that has USB 2.0 ports (MAC G5 with OS X 10.4.11) and one that has the old USB 1.0 ports (eMachines T1801 P.C. with Windows XP)?

Will the P.C. reject the USB device?

Or will it accept it but transfer files at a slower rate?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

vmware vsphere on Dell server

Hello All:

I am planning to buy a used dell server so I can load Vmware vsphere 4.0 to built a lab. Does any one know which is adell server would help. My budget is under $500..00.

If server are expensive then I may settle for desktop or workstation to load vmware so I can test and learn vmware 4.0.

The server does not have to be the most current technologically. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

i bought this laptop since half year ago. before that i seldom use it so i didnt realize that the wireless of this laptop is very bad

it can connect the wireless, but it also always disconnect or limited service.

i cannot use the internet properly, it will always automatically disconnect or jz limmited service.

in my house, there are 2 more laptop also using the same line.

but both of it dont have this problem, only my laptop, inspirion 1545, always cannot connect to the line

when it is disconnect or limited service, i cannot do anything, and just wait for it to connect back.

i have been try to use plug in. ( use wire connect from the modem to my laptop )

it dont have any problem, it also never disconnect or limited service like what did i mention above.

how am i goin to solve this problem? is my laptop having any problem?

Intel Pro PT-1000 Dual Port vs. NetXtreme II 5709c Dual Port

Hi ,

I recently got a PoweEdge T-610 with both the below NICS:

NIC-1 : NetXtreme II 5709c Dual Port (mobo Integrated)

NIC-2 : Intel PT-1000 Pro Dual Port ( Adapter )

The Primary Role for this Server is going to be hosting a SQL 2008 x64 and eventually clients will RDP to it to access the SQL App as well .

My question is : Would anyone suggest to use NIC1 vs NIC2 or vice-versa for any reason while keeping in mind the primary server role mentioned above ?

Let me know if you have any thoughts or different ideas.

T300 Server falls asleep or hangs

My T300 server from day one has had a problem where it seems to fall asleep when not being used when not logged in or logged in. I have turned off the power saving features, even the one on the NIC card (which by the way seems like a silly feature for a server). I have to login or relogin once or twice to get the NIC working. I login in and will attempt a ping test and it will fail. I will log out and back in and test it again then the ping test will finally work. The network is fine, it is isolated to the server. I'm using Windows 2008.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

when i bought my new dell desktop package. I was offered a windows 7 upgrade, I applied for this online paid the delivery charge and i have now waited 14 days and my upgrade disk has not yet arrived. I can,t find out how to track it.

Installing a 32 bit on a 64 bit in a different partition

I have the Studio 19 touch screen, 64 bit and did not know when I bought it that it was not compatible with my work software. I can only use that on a 32 bit. I did a chat with Dell and was told I could switch it back to the 32 bit and they would send me a disk. I asked if that would interfer with the touch screen and was told no, but when I got the software and did an online chat with Dell for install assistance, I was told it would interfer. Now I would like to know if I can install the 32 bit into my second partition without interfering or hurting the touch screen application? I have since installed Windows 7, which made things slow down, not speed up and now some things do not work, such as my Dell chat, hence the forum, so I need to know if I can do the 32 bit and then do a 32 bit upgrade, which I got with the purchase, or do I need to reinstall Vista and then install 32 and then upgrade both?

nVidia Quadro FX 570 (Precision T3400) "disappears" after Windows Updates?

In late January, we received 6 Precision T3400's (QuadCore, running XP Pro Sp2) with the nVidia Quadro FX 570 cards (Rev A00). Each powers two monitors (one per DVI output). After February's Windows Updates were applied, the cards "disappeared" from Windows and will only power one monitor. In Device Manager, the card is shown with an exclamation point. In Display Settings, under Advanced | Adapter, none of the Adapter Information can be read.

Installing the latest version of the driver from the Dell support site does not resolve the situation.

Updating the T3400's BIOS from A01 to A03 does not resolve the situation.

Resisting Tier One Tech Support's advice to "Reinstall the Operating System" (on a 3 week old computer???), we did a "Repair" on one machine today. Following that, the device strings were legible and the displays were correct. As soon as "Windows Installer 3.1" was installed, it rebooted and the card "disappeared" again.

Is anyone else having issues with these graphics cards? This is happening to all 6 of ours, so I can't believe it's an isolated issue.
