Axim X50-screen alignment

I have an Axim X 50 and over the past few months I havew had to realign the screen every time I use it. Sometimes it's a simple alignment (one go round) and other times I seem stuck in a loop of realigning the screen (20 times or more). Any fixes or suggestions? Is this suggesting the end of my unit?

Dell axim x51V Stylus holder won't hold

I dropped my axim x51v and the only problem is now my stylus will not stey in the stylus holder. There are no cracks, the stylus is the same. I tried a replacement and it will not stay either. It is real loose and slides out real easily. Is there something down in the holder that might have come out upon impact? I have seen nothing that addresses this. Please assist.

Axim 5 Question

I just received a free axim 5. I bought the sync/charge cable but it does not seem charge the battery. The power light will flash, go solid, flash, etc. The power setting sez the battery is charging. Is there a way to tell if the battery is bad? It runs fine while connected via USB

Can any ac adapter that fits be used? and does that charge the battery?

Is there a way to set it up to connect to a wpa wireless network, right now it only seems to see wep?

How do I add a background file?

Axim x51v Syncs Only After Hard Reset

When my Windows Vista computers updated to service pack 2, I was no longer able to sync my X51V Axim to either of them. When cradled and uncradled, the customary beeping occurred but the Axim and computer never saw each other. The same thing happened on both of my computers with the Axim. After a 6 week back and forth of emails with Microsoft, I happened upon the hard reset (pressing reset on back together with on/off button for 5 seconds). Immediately after a hard reset, the Axim connects and fully syncs. But once uncradled, it will not sync again until I perform another hard reset. Microsoft is telling me that it's a compatability issue with the current version of Vista. Anyone have any ideas on how to overcome having to do a hard reset?

I have been trying to get my AmbiCom WL54-CF 802.11g wireless card to work in my Axim X50. I installed the software through my desktop and can see it being installed on the handheld, but after following the install instructions and performing a soft reset and putting in the card, nothing happens. A configuration screen is supposed to appear that allows me to find active networks and try to log-in.

When I insert the card, the "power" light comes on for a few seconds and then goes off, and then the Unrecognized Card message appears. Noting that the "link" light has never illuminates.

The handheld has Windows Mobile 2003 second Edition version 4.21.1088 416 MHz Processor type Intel PXA270

Do I need to do some kind(s) of upgrade(s) to get this card to work? Do I need some kind(s) of new drivers?

can anyone tell me for sure whether or not you can use a Compact Flash GPS on a Dell Axim x50v? I am getting some conflicting info, one posts claims that the CF slot is only for memory and not other devices and Dell claims that you can use a CF GPS. The reason I ask is because my Holux GR271 CF GPS causes the dell Axim to freeze up completely so Im trying to figure out why.

I am having a problem with the time settings with my Dell Axim. I select the correct time zone (Pacific US) but it has the incorrect time listed due to recent daylight savings. I tryed to adjust the clock to the proper time it changes but then reverts back. The time on my computer syncing to is accurate.

This is weird but it only affects my appts that were created in Outlook and the calendar on my computer shows the meeting at the right time. On the Axim the time is moved ahead an hour and the meeting displays in a Red font -- any help is appreciated

Axim V51 power off question

I bought my wife an Axim V51 for Christmas. It works fine except that we can't figure out to get it to totally power off when she puts it in her purse for storage. As soon as she puts it away, the least little movement or touch from the other stuff in her purse causes it to wake back up. All this does is cause the battery to go down. Every time she gets it out and tries to use it, it's dead. I have tried holding the power button down for several seconds. It "appears" to power off, but just goes into standby mode. Any ideas? thanks.

White Screen X51V

After replacing the battery and charging it, I turned it on, but only get a white screen. Have done soft start and hard start with no results. After a soft start, I can hear clicking when i touch the screen but obviously cannot see anything. Am ready to give up.

Axim X50 Won't move past align screen

I reset and hard reset my Axim and now it won't move beyond the align scree. I can tap the target as many times as I want and it just keeps moving around, but never moves to the next screen. I have taken out the battery overnight and performed a hard reset, but so far it always does the same thing. Any ideas?

I have retired my old laptop and have not installed the software necessary to synchronize my Axim with the new computer. Running XP Pro on the laptop w/MS Office 2007. Axim is currently loaded with Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Ver. 4.21.1008 (build 14260.2.05.5). What's the simplest way to link them up? Can I upgrade Windows Mobile? If so, How? Hi, I have started using Axim x3 which i got in a deal, but its WiFi is not working. Everytime i enable the wireless it popups with a messgae "Enter the name of the device driver for this card for information see the card manufacturer's documentation. <'Unknown Card in socket 1', <OK>, <Cancel> >. I know this version is not supported anymore, but any help to resolve this will be apprciated.

X3 Three Questions

I am new to this, so please bear with me.

1. I just moved from a Palm Z31. I had my calendar data in the desktop file marked Date. When I synced with Outlook in prep for the X3, my calendar data flashed by as an increasing number of reminders, and no data went into the calendar of Outlook. What happened? How can I get the data inro the calendar?

2. I got a message saying that the backup battery is low. Upon further investigation, I found another message saying that it had failed. What can I do about that? I did not see a simple tway o replace the backup battery. Where is it?

3. I was intrigued about the possibiity of using the unit with WiFi. What kind of a card can I get to put into the slot to make that possible? How does it work?

4. I just found out that the X3 was discontinued. What replaced it? I do not want to use one unit for communication and storage of my important data, such as a blackberry type unit. What are others using who might be in my situation?

X50V wont charge with cable

i just got a x50v the other day. got a sync cable for it thats supost to charge it as well..... its not charging at all. nothing. i leave it off and the amber light is on, but once i take it off to power on, it wont. i have to take out the batery and put it back in to get it to power on. then it tells me that its shutting off due to low power... it was charging for 5 hours. its realy frusterating right now. it has a new battery in it. i even tried hard reboot, but it didnt even have enough juice to finish that up all the way. i even pressed the little button on the back and nothing is working.

Hello, I am new to all of this and I just recently acquired a Dell Axim x51 after using an Axim x5 for several years. I am having 2 major problems and since there is no help for this, I am hoping to get some assistance from one of the Dell community who have had experience.

#1 Issue - I have the install disk and I have run it on my PC which is running Vista 64 bit, and on my laptop running XP and I cannot get either to recognize the device. I have put Active sync in, taken it out and re-installed it on both computers and it recognizes the pda, but Active sync just spins for hours without ever syncing the device to the computer. I thought initially it was an issue with Vista, so I tried the same thing on the laptop and had the same problem. Can anyone please give me some ideas to try to see if I can get this to work? I got the Axim x51 so I could access the internet and read e-books and listen to mp3's but so far I am not able to do any of this. I had better luck with my x5 and didn't have the internet, but it was functional every other way at least.

#2 Issue - I don't know how to configure the device to run the internet. It has the wifi care built in, but I've tried to follow the instructions in the book and am having no luck with getting connected. I get on and there are 2 or 3 different choices and I don't know enough about wifi to be able to choose the correct options. I have Time Warner Roadrunner internet service and we run the faster speeds for my son's gaming. I don't know if that info helps or not, but I am desperate here, lol! I have a beautiful new device I can't figure out. I sold my x5, so I am stuck with what I have now. I hope against hope someone can help an old lady who is technically challenged!

How can I transfer all my Windows Word 1997-2003 files and my PIM data from my Axim X5 (Pocket PC 2002) that synchronizes with ActiveSync 3.5 and Outlook 2000 to an iPAQ 210 (Windows Mobile 6) that uses ActiveSync 4.5 that is not compatible with my outdated device?

For the last year, I have been using a PC with XP Professional SP2 and 3. Eventually, I was able to "downgrade" the Outlook to Outlook 2000 to synchronize the PIM data, although the program doesn't work properly on my PC. Is it possible to upgrade the Outlook 2000 without losing the data? Or is there another way to transfer the PIM data? Neither BirdieSync nor Dotfred go back beyond 2003. I really hope a data transfer is possible!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

also, the msn software on it does not work. I havent used this in a long time and I finally have a reason to use it (was a gift btw) So, Is there a way to fix?

also, When ever I plug the usb cable into the computer shouldn't it ask me if I want to install the software? or something along those lines?

Can't update Axim X30 ROM to A06 version

Hello.

I am trying to upgrade the ROM on an Axim X30 that still has A00 on it. I've checked on DELL's site which was the latest ROM available and I've downloaded the file for ROM A06.

When I unzip the files with the executable provided (R101483.EXE) and the update program starts I get the following error message: "The System Update file can not be found. Reinstall the System Update .", and then it just closes.

I've done a hard reset on the device, tried with Activesync 3.8 and 4.2, but nothing helps.......

Does someone have a solution for this, so I can upgrade my device?

Dell Axim 5 Question

I have a Dell Axim 5. When I turned it on last night, it started up in the configure setting, screen alignment. From what I have read, it appears that the system had done a hard reset. I know that I didn't initiate this action, as all I did was turn it on. What could cause a hard reset?

I need help with another topic now and wonder if anyone can help me please. When going to options in activesync and attempting to highlight the boxes to sync contacts, email, tasks, calender and notes I get the following error message:-

The problem is I do have all of that on my PC (Office 2007 which synced on the old pda no problem) and outlook is set as the default email programme. Any ideas to help me fix this issue please?

I have had Axims for years and love syncing it with my Dell laptops loaded with XP. I just bought a Palm TX and cannot get it to sync with my new Dell loptop loaded with Vista. I have down loaded palm softward patches, but still cannot link my Outlook 07 to Palm TX.

I have to purchase about 1,200 pieces of technology to support my school division. We typically purchase desktops. The push is for Netbooks now, but I feel this is a transitional step between the desktop and the handheld. Anybody know anything about the elusive new Dell smartphone? The Iphone killer?

Unfortunately Iphones don't use strong encryption so we don't want to use them with exchange. We would rather have a real keyboard rather than on screen. Hopefully a touch screen, wifi, cell, mobile 7... yada yada yada.

The Ipaq, Axim and even the new Palms offer some of this. the blackberry offers the best email experience, but really nothing else.

Who knows what the "magic" bullet is? Is it coming from Dell?

Connecting an Axim to a wireless network

First, let me say what a lousy customer service department Dell has. I own one Dell desktop, two laptops and two PDAs and all I needed was a simple answer to a question. But apparently Dell has chosen not to help their customers without hitting them up for a bribe, excuse me, a "service charge. "

When it came to posting in this forum, it took me an hour to figure out how to do it - instead of simply listing a catagory clearly labled "Post New Question", the helpful fellows at Dell first make you go on an elaborate Easter Egg hunt to track down the correct site.

Now that I'm finally here, I really hope someone can help...

I have both an Axim X5 and an Axim X51, and have a home wireless network using a Linksys a/b router. I have had no problem connecting with any of my laptops. I have several internet CF cards. However, the Axims' internet connection forms do not seem to have any option for anything besides a dial-up link.

Is there some sort of update that will allow these units to connect more easily? I would really appreciate some help.

I just barely got my X50v a few days ago from a friend. It currently has the 2003 Mobile Edition. I want to update the firmware to wm5, but don't know how. The downloads page on the Support site does not offer the upgrade as far as I could see. Do I have to order it? Can I get it elsewhere online, or must I get it from Dell? Does it allow more apps to run? Help, please!

As for me, I probably won't buy another Dell mobile device anymore if there is no possibility of upgrade. After all, software will keep updating, why buy a hardware that cannot take advantage of newer OS'es.

need help please. Just had my Axim x51 delivered and have a problem.

I have just installed an app (Diving log) which I have been using successfully on an older pda for some time. When I attempt to open it on the axim I get an error message as follows:- This application (Divelog.exe) requires a newer version of the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework than the version installed on this device.

I have .NET CF v2 installed. Can anyone suggest where or how I update this. Have been searching to no avail.

I just received a Dell Axim X30 with wireless and bluetooth, running Windows Mobile 2003 SE.

It is connected to my wireless router (D-Link DI-624) fine, but when I start Internet Explorer

and try to bring up a webpage I get a "Page Not Found Error".

Is there a setting I am missing somewhere? Can someone please offer a suggestion

to get IE to browse the web?
