However, when I start Photoshop I get the message in the subject line. If I select the option to "use anyway" I get an image with a starkly yellow tint - as I do in ANY app that uses the profile.

The U2410 comes with a great quantitative report on the color fidelity of this individual monitor as tested by hardware. I really want to have the proper Monitor Profile, which I'm certainly not equipped to provide.

I have installed Virtual PC and with a Windows XP session on the same system it looks perfect

there is some advice for it.

Please check the gamma of the pc mode in standard mode again,It looked like about 1.8 instead of normal 2.2 on my U2410 monitor.

I think it will be better If RGB gain or Color Temperature could be ajust for all modes.or at least in sRGB and adobeRGB modes.

I hope that Dynamic Contrast could be turn on or off in Multimedia mode.

I hope that all the options of user mode include Hue and Saturation could be ajust by DDC/CI,if Dell do not have a plan to support mouse/keyboard control, then I can do it by myself.

I bought my wife a new monitor and moved this monitor to my kids PC (not a MAC). The monitor does the same thing on the kids PC. One strange thing that I noticed last night is that when it goes into the "sleep mode", if you look real close at the monitor you can till see the icons and windows on the monitor, but they are really, really faint.

on the PC, i have turned off all the power save mode so i have the monitor and hard drive never turning off.

I realize that the problem is not the PC's as this same problem has occurred on both the orignal MAC and now the PC.

About 2 years after we got it, we had some issues with it. Naturally, the warranty was expired. Every morning when I turned the computer on, the monitor would only remain at normal settings for approximately 2-5 seconds before it would change itself to the darkest possible contrast settings. We tried turning it off/on and resetting the factory settings, but these only restored it for a matter of seconds before it would change itself back. Usually after about 100 minutes of turning it off and on, it would give up and retain the factory settings. After a while we just got sick of fighting and the monitor was placed on the shelf above the desk. We used our aunt's old CRT monitor.

After purchasing a desktop from a friend who was upgrading, I decided to use the old monitor with it. The drivers have all been installed, everything seems to be working fine except the monitor. The old trick of turning it off an on until it gives up had been working, but this morning it just wouldn't give in. I have tried everything I know of, including running the monitor on it's own, disconnected from the computer, in which case, the monitor displayed it's color test, but it was quickly darkened to the darkest contrast setting. If the power supply, the drivers, the connection or the auto-adjust sensors were bad then it would either work or not work, right? If it is a sensor, is there a way i can fix it? Has annyone else had this problem before? Were you able to fix it? Does anyone have an idea of what may cause it to work better?

It has always been kept indoors, out of direct sunlight, at 60-80*F. After being stored on top of the desk shelf, it is possible that dust may have affected it, but the problem existed before that point. It is out of warranty, and I am looking into purchasing another one, but as I am a college student with a very limited amount of funds, I would really prefer to fix it. I don't really want to take it to a repair shop, as i'm afraid they'll charge me $40 just to run a diagnostic and tell me they can't fix it.

Thank you very much for your time, and hopefully, your solutions.

My new Dell 2408WFP monitor won't wake up.

Subject pretty much descriabes my issue. I have a Dimension running Vista. Computer is awake but I have to hard reboot to get the monitor going. Pretty sure I've got latest drivers too.

The problem I'm having is when I hook up the HDMI cable from computer (530 slim tower) to my s2409w I get a nice clear picture and everythign works as expected, until I put the computer into sleep mode. The computer sleeps but the monitor goes blank almost as if it were going to sleep, but then displays the default monitor screen saver that says "hdmi cable not present". What I was expecting was the monitor to go into power save mode.

When I use my DVI cable or VGA cable and put the computer to sleep, both the computer and the monitor go into sleep mode as expected. This problem only occurs with HDMI.

I've tried setting the monitor to "auto detect" and "hdmi" for cable selection and neither work for putting the monitor to sleep.

Anyone have a solution, or similar experience? I've seen lot's of posts about the hdmi audio power save problem, but not with this one.

My calibration settings: 6500K, 2.2 gamma, 120/130 cd/m^2 are absolutely standard for graphic working. I tried to change the calibration software, but the result was always the same... even the smallest change in gamma curves produces a series of clearly noticeable stripes in the Lagom gradient test.

This is my situation:

With the banding and dithering issues the sRGB and the aRGB presets are de facto useless.

Standard preset comes with a native gamma of 1.8 so calibration produces an heavy change in gamma curves and a more noticeable banding effect.

Factory calibration is meaningless in my case since DeltaE >> 5 for aRGB mode and Standard Mode (I know.. this preset is not factory calibrated but color deviations are embarassing).

The other well known issue, i.e. Green-Pink Tint issue, is de facto absent so my monitor is lucky from this point of view.

Is banding a "normal" thing or an issue of my monitor? What can I do at this point?

Thanks.

P.S. I have tried DPT to no avail, this further showed the problem though, the grey area shows on all the bright backgrounds but not on the black.
I have been using a Dell XPS gen 5 for over 4 years now with no problems. I just purchased a dell 2001fp monitor and I am having trouble getting it to display its native resolution (1600x1200) in either VGA or DVI mode. The highest resolution it displays normally is 1280x1024. In VGA mode, when I try to change the resolution to 1600x1200, it gives me the "cannot display this mode" and doesn't work at all. In DVI when I try 1600x1200, it gives me a picture but it only shows part of the screen and if I scroll with the mouse on the edges it moves the viewable portion of the screen, clearly not what i want it to do. I simply want to be able to use this monitor as it is supposed to work at 1600x1200. My graphics card is a x850 XT platinum edition. I've tried updating the drivers for both the graphics card and monitor (both I downloaded directly from the dell website) and still no luck. Also, The ATI catalyst center (when I have the DVI connection in) tells me the maximum reported resolution of the 2001fp is 1280x1024 which is not correct. Any help at this point would be much appreciated as I've tried all the usual things I could think of to try and fix this and I've had no luck

Hey Dell, how about playing fair? It's not like I was using offensive language.

I was also contacted by a Dell representative after submitting my review. He requested infos about my issues, wanting to help, to which I replied with details (see below for my answer). Since then, no answer and my review is still unpublished.

Way to kill your customers' trust and satisfaction.

U2410 PRODUCT REVIEW

This monitor suffers from an intense Green/Pink tint issue on the sides and was acknowledged by Dell's technical support team. Unfortunately Dell statement on this is that it will not be fixed. Look on the Dell's Community forums for more information on this.

There is also heavy grain, noise and dither problems while using the Adobe RGB & sRGB mode. I'm also experiencing this heavy grain under the Game/Video mode when connected on my PS3. Watching Blu-ray movies is a pain (view attached picture for sample). Games also look bad and pixelated.

The monitor is not horizontally fit, meaning that the right side of the monitor is lower by a few millimeters. You can tell by just looking at it.

As a graphic designer, I had my share of monitors in the past years and this is by far one of the worst product you can invest in.

EMAIL FEEDBACK

And my follow up :

Hello ***,

Thanks for the feedback.

Order number (original) = ***
Order number (replacement) = ***
Customer number = ***
Service Tag / Product # = ***

You might want to take a look at the Dell Community forums for discussions regarding the U2410 monitor. There is plenty of consumers affected by the various issues and unfortunately it doesn't seem Dell is interested in dealing with it as mentioned by a Technical Support member.

1. About the U2410 Green/Pink Tint Analysis where TS mentions there will be no fix for this :
http://en.community.dell.com/forums/t/19302919.aspx

2. General thread about the Tint issues customers are reporting :
http://en.community.dell.com/forums/t/19297120.aspx

3. Thread about my own problem with grain/noise/dither problem. I requested an exchange as suggested and problem persist on my second unit.
http://en.community.dell.com/forums/t/19302511.aspx

I would most definitely request a refund for this item, unfortunately the 15% administration fee is a turn-off. Especially if I must add the shipping fees to it.

I believe this product could be outstanding if Dell was showing interest in the production quality. Hopefully the major issues will be resolved by the next revisions. Until then, it is most definitely a poor product and, as stated in my review which I really hope will be published, will not be recommending it to anyone.

Thanks for your time.

Burning smell Dell Ultrasharp 2005FPW

The monitor still works and gives a good picture when connected, but there is a strong smell of burning plastic coming from the rightside of the monitor.

From the outside there is no visual of burning damage.

History:

A few days ago when i plugged in a 8GB USB stick from Sandisk in the upper USB of the monitor, on the right side.

The USB port didnt work, so i tried a different one of the monitor. That one still worked.

After an hour i smelled a strong burning smell of plastic caming from the right side of the monitor.

The things i had connected to the usb Hub of the monitor were: Logitech keyboard and Steelsound 5H soundcard

My question now: is it dangerous to use the monitor? I bought it in 2006, can Dell still do something about it?

I have unplugged the monitor now.

I just bought a Dell u2410 monitor and I have it attached to my Macbook pro laptop using DVI-DVI cable. My problem is that the display of the monitor "blinks" frequently. What i mean is that the power of the monitor is turned on ( blue color ), no power save mode messages or any from the monitor. power doesn't turn orange. It just turns black for 1 second and then turns normal again.

I have a mouse and keyboard attached to the 2 USB ports at the back, and when the monitor turns black, i can still type and move my mouse.

This happens frequently. But sometimes, it doesn't happen at all. sometimes it blinks once every 10 mins. sometimes it blinks a LOT enough to annoy me.

I have tried using DVI-VGA(monitor) and the same thing is happening. I tried removing my external mouse, keyboard. same thing. it is the same whether my macbook pro's display is turned on or off( clamshell mode ).

I am using a 2007 Macbook pro 15-inch, 2.2Ghz, 2GB ddr2 ram, NVIDIA 8600M GT. I run the macbook pro without the batteries. Please help :(

Additional Info/Updates:

I tried turning off the laptop with the monitor on. With that i can only play with the OSD using touch. anyway i noticed that even without the laptop, the monitor was still blinking. i can play with the OSD even when it blinks.

As of this moment, after going out and turning off my monitor, i go home and turn it on again. this time, the screen is completely blank. the power button is on. I can play with the touch OSD but cannot see it. I can say because I see the lights turning on for the OSD touch. I cannot also see the self-test provided. but i know its working because the touch blue lights are reacting

I have tried connecting the monitor to a PC via DVI -> VGA and VGA -> VGA to no avail. the monitor stays on with the blue light, but no picture whatsoever. incidentally, i noticed that during when my monitor was still showing picture, the vents at the back were warm. now i have tried turning it on for more than 10 mins and its not getting warm. I don't smell anything burning. i checked the fuse on the chord and it looks like it hasn't blown.

Also both windows and mac are able to detect the monitor and change its resolution. I can even hover my mouse over to my u2410 though i cannot see it.

My 4 USB ports are also working when i attached the upstream/downstream to my pc/laptop

Curious, is the 2408wfp official not sold anymore?

I'm just asking, as I can't find it on the Danish Dell site anymore? Hmm... I've had two 2408 units to try, both having bad uneven strange panel light asymmetry , where the left side was much brighter than the right side that were normal. Now I'm waiting for a third unit to try. I said, that I didn't wan't another 2408 from the same collection as the other two I got, as it probably would have the same panel faults. But its been a week ago, since the swedish technician said, that he would send a new one. But now I'm thinking... maybe Dell is out of 2408s, as it didn't take more than a couple of days with the 2nd one I got?

Last night, my SP2009Wc monitor stopped working. I turned off the monitor. Went upstairs for about 15 minutes, and came back down. Turned the monitor on, only to find that the monitor was no longer displaying properly. I worked for literally 3 hours to fix the solution, including the color test, but that didn't work. I tried a different video cord (blue). That didn't work. I unhooked the monitor and computer for the umpteenth time and hooked up the computer to a tv, and that worked fine. But I can't have the computer hooked up to the TV. I unhooked and rehooked the computer and monitor several times. I was going to use the white video cable, but my Studio 540 doesn't have a port for it.

Anyway, the problem with my monitor is the fact that it is displaying fuzzy, distorted-pixelation. I messed with the power cords, the video cords, the USB cord--the whole shebang--and nothing. I pressed the menu button above the power button, but it didn't display correctly on the monitor. You could tell that the menu was up, but you couldn't read it at all. The static-pixelation-stuff was vertical and was moving up and down. So this is obviously a problem with the monitor. I don't want to spend big-bucks on a new one, because I've had this for about a year, and the warranty might be up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This is an idea of what the monitor looks like with the static/whatnot:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><br I have a brand new 2209WA. Out of the box, I have the following:

- Set screen to all-white (or just open a browser ... screen is white and where I first noticed)

- Top 90% of the screen is fine and pure white

- Bottom 10% (all the way left to right) is an off-white colour ... looks like the yellow shade of white.

Any suggestions before I send this back? :( I've tried calibrating etc, but the fact that this is only affecting the bottom 10% of the monitor makes me think it's a real issue, not a calibration/viewing angle thing.

Thanks much

(FYI, Video Card is an ATI 9850, drivers are fully updated. this is a hardware issue).

Dell 2408wfp not going into sleep mode when connected to VGA

Hi,

I've got a pair of Dell 2408wfp's (A01 & A02), that are connected via a VGA kvm. When the computer turns the monitor's off, the monitors show a "No VGA Cable" message that bounces around the screen instead of allowing the monitor to go to sleep.

Is there a way I can get the monitor to go into sleep mode instead of having the "No VGA Cable" message bounce around?

Is it the KVM that is causing this?

From looking at the computer, it has three ports - VGA, DVI & DisplayPort. The Monitor has VGA, DVI-D, & HDMI. I am thinking DisplayPort cable with adaptor to HDMI, but wanted to get some feedback. I thought to try to tech support chat, but got a message that my support has expired (strange - I should have it for 2 years).

Anyway, opinions and advice appreciated.
