Sorry to interrupt this thread, but since the forum moved here, I now don't know how to post a new message, since Chris' 1st message 'reply ' link is 'locked'. Could someone resist excoriating me and simply tell me how it's done. Also the forum stopped emailing new mesages to me, although I still have my profile configured to send new mesages. How do I turn that back on? Thanks

Well I ended up getting both lol.

I was very lucky and picked up a Sapphire HD 5870 Vapor-X video card from newegg yesterday. This card sold out in 10 minutes and I was in the right place at the right time. I am very excited and cant wait to see what this bad boy can do.

1) I purchased my 730x and a 630i both with the free Windows 7 upgrades. Do you know when there will be any Windows 7 drivers released?
* I know as much as you, I just check the site. They never tell me before hand that they are releasing drivers.

2) Since the 730x and the 630i were marketed as ATX and can be upgraded to a retail ATX motherboard has there been any information made available on what to look for when that time comes?
* Nope. We will not be testing any retail hardware. Once you go that route, your on your own. Dells stance is you have the potential to upgrade to retail stuff, but we will not support it.

Any issues with the MIO boards or the lighting?

Update. I called F rys and they said sorry blah blah blah that my memory was expected to arrive at their warehouse but they did not receive the shipment. I said look hear, you guys need to offer me something for making me wait for this memory. The have upgraded my shipping to 2nd day and did not charge me for it. So now my total price that I will pay for the Dominator 6GB (2x3GB) 1600Mhz memory (TR3X6G1600C8D) is $130.50

If this shipment comes in today and I am not one of their first come first serve, I will have to wait until November 3rd shipment.

Would you guys stick with this great price on my memory or cancel order and get a 5870 when the become available?

I still plan on getting the 5870 but I might have to wait until mid November if I purchase this memory. If I do get the 5870 earlier and cacel this memory, I will have to wait until mid november to get this memory at a higher $$

I do have a hardware upgrade question, what would you guys do if you were in my shoes?

I am still waiting for my RMA memory from a online retailer. They have refunded my money will charge me again for my new memory that they will ship. It is the 6GB (3X2GB) / DDR3 /1600MHz / DOMINATOR / CORSAIR that they are gonna sell me for $140. However I dont know when they will ship me my memory because they ran out.

I am looking to the near future to be upgrading my Geforce 9800 GX2 video card to probably a XFX 5870, but I have to save the $$ for it.

What would you guys do in my situation?

1. Cancel my great deal on the dominator memory and put the $140 twoards my Video card upgrade?

2. Keep the great deal on the memory and buy the video card sometime late November.

I agree for capping this thread. I've followed it for months, but like was mentioned before it is difficult to access the middle pages.

I vote to cap it and start other threads. This thread has be hijacked many times over. In addition, it is next to impossible to access the middle fourty pages easily. I have taken parts of the whole and made work doc of the information for future reference, but what a hassle.

You all need to read some "Windows 7 FAQs"!

- Win7 from the store (retail) and "OEM" Win7 are (functionally) the same! It's all about licensing and activation.

- You can (easily) "create" any Win7 "version" or "activation type" from any Win7 dvd. Essentially you only need 2 dvd's, Win7 "x86" (32bit) and "x64" (64bit). From that you can make/install any version of Win7 (Starter thru Ultimate).

- Details on how to make this happen for your 730x exist (but not discussed here).

CDW is offering an OEM version of Windows 7 at $144. What are the considerations on getting an OEM version of the OS for my 370x? What am I giving up getting an OEM version for about half the regular price?
