Hi..

I had the same problem... But now it is solved.. do the following..

right click on task bar --> goto properties --> click on notification area tab --> and check 'power' option..

Hope this solves ur problem...

I had the same problem. I have an inspiron 1545.

Go to the taskbar, click right

If it comes up with a check nest to the "locked taskbar", remove that check then proceed with right click on desktop,left click on properties. Now make sure all the icons you want to show are checked. Hope this will be helpful,good luck

Hi, Ham3799... I'm afraid there's good news and bad news about that fix. It really does work...

...but only until I shut down or reboot.

Every time the computer starts, I have to repeat that entire scenario, as well as the similar routine for putting the volume control icon back in place there.

I know it's not a big major deal, but it's one of those little bitty things that s l o w l y drives you nuts!

I've had the same problem and it was solved by doing the following... Rt click on desktop - Lt click on properties - Rt click screensaver tab - at the bottom of that tab there is a power settings button, Rt click it - Rt click the advanced tab - Make sure that the box is checked next to "Always show icon on the taskbar" - as long as there is a check mark you should be good.... If it is already checked, Uncheck it and apply then recheck it then apply and you're good to go...HOPE THAT HELPS

Now I have a related question if anyone can help... Whether my computer is plugged in or not the icon never changes from "On AC Power" even if the computer shuts off from lack of power it still says its on ac power????????

Thereal-dbk4297--The battery icon doesn't appear at all, and when the power adapter is connected, the AC icon doesn't appear either. I checked the Quickset program settings, and there's no option at all to make the icons disappear.

I'm using XP also. I've also noticed that my volume control icon has disappeared also.

Hello,

That option is part of the quickset program.

Does the AC icon still come on when the power adapter is connected? And you say that when you unplug the power the battery icon does not appear?

Check through quickset and look for a setting to show the icon.

I'm afraid I haven't a solution for you, KiKi, just because I'm having the same issue with my Vostro 1500 (which is, I believe, very similar to your 1520, at least on the inside). One question... are you running XP or Vista? I have XP and the only thing I can possibly relate it to is SP-3, which also seemed to make my volume control icon go bye-bye!

I have tried all of the recommended fixes for both, to no avail.

I've noticed that my battery meter/AC power icon has disappeared from my system tray. I'm not sure how to make it reappear. I'm not even sure how it suddenly disappeared in the first place. The reason why I want this icon to always be there is so that I can tell how much battery power I have left on my laptop. Also, when I am charging my laptop battery and letting my laptop run on AC power, the battery icon turns into the AC power icon.

How do I get it to reappear? Is the icon part of the Dell Quickset program/software? I'm not sure. I have an Inspiron 1520. How do I fix this?
