I am pleased to say that I received the Dell 2209WA yesterday. Dell has not let me down and I will continue to support their excellent products. It's unfortunate that one Dell customer service rep that emailed me recommended that I cancel the order. Fortunately, I didn't and I now have an excellent monitor. I thought that a 22 inch monitor would be wide enough so that I wouldn't need a dual monitor setup. That isn't the case, however .... and so I now have the new monitor running alongside the (old) 19 inch standard aspect monitor. This works well, but the new monitor sure puts the old one to shame.

I enjoyed the video ... very informative and well presented. I'll have to check out Costco ... but don't you need some kind of membership? Once again, I thank you for your interest in my situation. I have been thinking that since I ordered a monitor in good faith from Dell ... it seems to me they must have some kind of legal obligation to follow thru on the deal. We'll see. Have yerself a good day!

I was looking around the web to see what new LCD monitors are out on the market. I found a video on YouTube for a Samsung monitor that is a LCD-TV. The gentleman in the video found his monitor at Costco.

I went ahead and ordered the 2209WA one week ago. I find since then that it has completely disappeared from the web site and the shipping date i have been given is in September. I emailed customer service and was told that this monitor is 'end of line' and recommended that I cancel the order since it would never be sent. Other than this response to my email, I have heard nothing from Dell about the order. This is very disappointing ... i have always been a big supporter of Dell products. I am now looking to purchase a Samsung monitor at a local retail outfit.

The 2209WA has a IPS panel, and will be a great monitor. Here is a link to the manual. It is nice to know Dell is making more monitors with good quality panels.

Thanx for the info. The 2407 sounds like an excellent choice. I understand that the Ultrasharp line is the way to go. I am also considering the 2209WA

Like the user name. I have been a member of the aging eye club for sometime. I have an 2407 WFP monitor. You can adjust the font upward and not get grainy text.

The monitor currently being sold is the 2408 WFP. You have to sure your video card will run at 1920 X1200. This is a link to the graphics cards.

What would be a good choice of monitor for senior citizens or anyone with poor eyesight? It seems to me that the higher resolutions will only put more info on the screen. I would rather see less real estate but larger fonts. Yet I understand that an LCD should be run only at its optimal resolution for best clarity. Would the standard aspect ratio be a better choice than a widescreen? I am not into games or movies and might want to use the monitor with another one in a dual-monitor setup.
