I am trying to use it at home with my Belkin F5D8233 router using WPA. This worked before on my last Inspiron (which was stolen this past summer). Now I am only able to connect when I disable security on the router. With WPA enabled, I'm asked for the security key, then after a short time, it comes back with "unable to connect". I have been troubleshooting all weekend, and searched this forum, but didn't find anyone with the same problem. Anybody have an idea? Thanks ahead of time Bob

Dell wireless makes a mess of my day !! I hope to receive such a quick reply from them but this time with an appropriate solution to my problem. I rephrase my language and try to express what I am going through (life is not easy i have learnt several times, now i learn it once again) Please read through my problem and suggest a convenient solution

I got rid of VISTA, installed my old copy of WIN XP(SP3) as i needed to
perform certain development and the requirements demanded XP. I am not
able to run the wireless device where as all other drivers appear to be working fine.... I wish
to ask...

1. Why have I been given a DELL 1515 WLAN Driver when I
possess DELL 1545 Inspiron. The useless Resource disc works on VISTA but it fails on XP
32 bit. Device manager shows network controller (with a ? mark). No
WLAN n/w connection seen in "My Network Places->View network
connections" I have looked everywhere but failed to find a proper
driver. While trying to install, the installer says "Could not detect WLan n/w card." and crashes. It works fine on VISTA. I downloaded the recommended driver software from dell support only to find the same error bouncing back at me.

2. How can I now get it running? Is there a special upgrade i
need to do to my windows xp ?

Please help me asap

10.10.11.0

10.10.12.0

Our firewall has an internal ip address of 10.10.10.254

Its an ISA firewall on a windows 2004 server. Since we can only assign one default gateway to our server it has been assigned a default gateway on the external Interface. So the internal interface has no default gateway!

As a result the only clients than can route to the internet are those on the 10.10.10.0

How can I route the other subnets to the firewall (10.10.10.254) ?

This
laptop has a "Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller" as a LAN
interface. The OS installation (an upgrade to Home Premium from XP)
went smooth. I had a strange feeling that the Internet is crawling so I
made few tests comparing the throughput with other computers that I
have on my home network. A simple download tests approve that the
network throughput from the LAN interface is much slower (I'm talking
about factor of 2 to 4, the throughput jitters between 50 to 80 percent) then what I'm used to and comparing to other
computers on my network that have a stable max performance.
I also tried the same tests, but this time
I was connected through the Wireless interface on my laptop and surprisingly the
bandwidth went back to the levels I'm used to, and was stable on the maximum. I think this is focusing
the problem to the compatibility of the "Broadcom NetExtreme 57xx
Gigabit Controller" with Widows 7.
I tried to update/reinstall the LAN device driver - Didn't help.

It will be great if Microsoft or Dell or Broadcom attend this issue, till then I would be glad to be assisted.

Thanks, Avi

Dell Inspiron Mini 10V Wireless N Network Problem

Hi,

First of all please excuse the rather blunt tone in this thread. This issue is becoming a chore and I am starting to wish I bought from a different manufacturer.

As the title suggests, I am having problems connecting to the internet. I've tried changing my security from WPA to WEP and back again. I've searched these forums for a solution and nothing has worked. I've changed my antenna output to Aux from Auto as one thread suggested, but no luck.

For a time, I could connect to my wireless BT Home Hub 2, but the range was pathetic (about 4 metres). I've tried connecting to my partners home wireless connection, and again, same problem. Now the connection is virtually nothing. If I am lucky enough to get a connection then it will be poor and usually fail within 2 minutes.

I've had my Dell Inspiron Mini 10v for nearly 3 months now. I wish I was brave enough to return it when I had the chance.

People have commented that this could be a known issue. I don't know what the problem is. I've spoken to IT bods my office and nobody seems to know.

Please help either by fixing my netbook or letting me return it!

Windows 7 Dell Inspiron 1545 Wireless 365 Bluetooth problem

Hi,

I have Inspiron 1545 and I've installed the latest available "Windows 7 Ultimate", but the OS could not detect the Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module.

The Nokia N95 bluetooth finds the laptop bluetooth module, but there is no reaction from the Windows 7 OS. There is no Bluetooth device in the "Device Manager".

I received my Windows 7 upgrade discs today and when I popped in the Windows 7 upgrade assistant disc, it scanned my system for incompatible software. Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility was the only item on the list. The message reads:

"A Windows 7 compatible version of this software is not available in the upgrade DVD. Download a Windows 7 compatible version of this software from the vendor's web site."

Having serious problems configuring my new powerconnect 6224.

First off ... when you restart the (unplug) switch does the system not save
its configuration??

Having awful troubling finding information on setting up vlans and routing
them.

I'm trying to find information on setting up 2 vlans and routing between
them...

Not having much luck and i've been at it for a few days no. (having a dose
of the flue doesn’t help)

If anyone can point to an easy setup guide it would be gratefully
appreciated.

I have had a look at the manual and its more this is a vlan and this is a
switch instead of telling you how to do things...

I called Dell and spent an hour and a half on remote assistance. He could not fix it, installed Catalyst center (i uninstalled it) which totally screwed up media center, then procceded to send me to advanced assistance because my 'video needed reconfiguring'. The lady I was transfered to then tells me that in order to assist me, I need to buy the $230 warrenty so she can address my 'software issue'. I said no thanks. I refuse to pay to have something fixed that I did not mess up, on a laptop that is only a week old, that they should have checked before they sent. Noticed the thread about removing the databackup program. I uninstalled the program, and voila, problem solved!! Blu ray runs beautifully. It took a customer five minutes on a forum to fix my problem, instead of the trained "professionals" in India. Dell, you really should move customer service back here. If I had not found that thread, this laptop would be going right back to Dell, even though I love it. If I pay $1600 for something, I expect it to work and get adequate, prepared assistance that I can understand.

Just had to post, maybe this can help someone else.

I just installed the OS clean along with drivers, and have recently seen that whenever I try to stream audio or video from the internet the program that is trying to stream the information crashes. I have tried going to websites like hulu, youtube, and last.fm with both IE and firefox; everytime I try to load a video the program becomes non-responsive and I have to force shut it down and restart the program. This also happens whenever I try to webcam using MSN, gTalk, skype, and oovoo. However, playing audio and video directly from my computer such as in iTunes works fine.

the only reason I can think of behind this issue is that there is either a problem with a driver I have installed, or I am missing a critical driver that has something to do with streaming information from the internet.
I have been calling DELL for hours and have been transferred at least 20 times. I am a University student in France, and I'm working on a project concerning DELL's unique distribution strategy and its evolution. I would like to ask a few questions that may help us understand the organization of DELL's different distribution channels, and why for example it has begun selling more in hypermarkets and electronic stores recently, as oposed to relying solely on Internet sales. Does this have to do with product diversification, globalization, a response to competition?? We would like to ask a number of questions of this nature to better understand the DELL company in light of our dissertation. Please put us in contact with somebody in Marketing & Sales at the corporate office, so that we may make an appointment for a short interview. This would be of greatest help. Thank you and we hope to be hearing from you very soon.
