Dell 922 prints inserted pictures, but not text

I am using a Dell Inspiron 9300 with XP.

When my Dell 922 prints a Word document with just text entered, it cycles the paper through and prints nothing.

When I insert a picture in the same Word document, the picture prints without the text.

When I print a PDF from a company that uses a general form that they fill in with information about different products, the graphics and boiler plate headings print, but the information they entered does not print.

I have also tried to print using my HP 970 cxi and my computer dings like it is recognizing it, but it shows a printng error and the paper does not even cycle.

Both of these printers worked fine with this set-up for over a year.

Any suggestions?
