WiFi indicator pop-up

Hi, When I first got my Inspiron 8600, when I would turn the wifi on or off with the fn/F2 combination, a spiffy little icon would pop up in the lower right hand corner of my screen. It looked like a big antenna and, depending on whether I turned the wifi on or off, it would be overlaid with an X (or not). I had to change hard drives and in reloading the system, I lost that function. Now I have to guess whether my wifi is on or off. How can I get that function back? Thanks!
