Dell XPS 630 audio static

My Dell XPS 630 with integrated Realtek audio produces an annoying amount of static.  I tested the system with two different sets of speakers and hear the same noise.  The system has had this problem since I got it earlier but I don't know if it is getting worse or just starting to bother me more.  What causes this problem and what is the solution?  Thanks for your help. Craig from IL.

Re: Dell XPS 630 audio static

The popping and crackling seems to have many possible reasons, not just "one solution" based on the many posts over the years about this.

Sometimes, just uninstalling the sound device in the Device Manager than restarting and letting Windows reinstall it will fix it.  Sometimes it takes reinstalling the sound driver,  on systems with SoundBlaster Xfi sound cards if you have over 3GB of RAM the problem happens.  If you have any sound enhancements enabled (e.g. reverb, chorous, etc) disable all sound enhancements.
