Installing Windows 7 after deleting Dell wireless LAN Card?

I just received my windows 7 upgrade disk in the mail today and after backing up my files, finally decided to try and install the thing. I ran the assistant DVD that came with it, was told that I needed to remove dell webcam chat and itunes, which I did. After I was told that I needed to remove the wireless LAN card; I was skeptical at first knowing that is how my connection works, but after doing some research I decided to finally delete it. All well and good, I restarted my laptop, but once it turned on and I inserted the disk for a second time... nothing happened. Every time I put in the windows 7 disk, I keep on getting a pop-up for 'installing new hardware' for the Network Controller. I even tried booting the laptop from the disk and run the install from there, but apparently, I am unable to do that as I got an error message saying that I needed to take the disk out, start in normal mode and then run the install.
I'm extremely frustrated at the moment - I don't know what I did wrong; I removed the wireless LAN card like it asked and restarted my laptop. I don't see why I am completely unable to install the operating system now. Does it have to do with the uninstall of the wireless card? I have no idea, and I would really like an answer asap as the dell is what I mainly use for school, and I kind of need it up and running by this week.
