Service Tag for Windows 7 upgrade not in the system, help.

It has been over 3 weeks since I purchased a Dell Studio XPS 9000 and my service tag still isn't in the system for the Windows 7 upgrade when I register. I have talked to customer service reps and none of them could resolve this issue. Can any one of the administrators from this site help me?

emkawseng,

Your information is in the Dell database. You should be able to go to the site below and register for your Win 7 Upgrade disk.

Re: Service Tag for Windows 7 upgrade not in the system, help.

I have had the same problem since spetember, and i would appriciate help. Another problem which i fixed myself was a blue screen the first time i started my new DELL studio 1555. The blue screen came every time it went into sleep mode, iI reinstalled vista and the problem went away but i started to wonder what quality DELL delivers... I bought the computer throug my job.

Best regards

Torleif

Interesting I can't get my service tag to respond either says it's not in the system as yours does.  Mine is xps730x purchased on 10-21-09.  Frustrating as can be!

Re: Service Tag for Windows 7 upgrade not in the system, help.

. I ordered my Inspiron 17 laptop on Oct. 2, and recieved it today. I went to the upgrade site and entered my tag, but it is invalid. I checked in the BIOS settings, same tag, still invalid. It's valid though, on the Dell website.

I ordered my laptop direct from Dell, so I didn't fill in the box asking where I got it, could that just be the problem. If not? What is?

I'm in the database (at least my service code is recognized by tech support) but the Win 7 Upgrade site still won't accept my service code. (11" inspirion purchased on 11 Sept).  There is still a problem w/ the website not recognizing service codes.

This is ridiculous!  What IS the problem?  Dell says this:

This system is not in our database yet. It can take up to 10 days from date of purchase for your service tag to be processed, so please try again at a later time. If more than 10 days have elapsed since date of purchase, please verify that you have entered the correct service tag and review the eligibility criteria.

Re: Service Tag for Windows 7 upgrade not in the system, help.

You are ridiculous, I bought my computer from DELL june. 29 -2009 (Longer then 10 days ago)...and i meet all the criterias and the it is the correct service tag. The problem is in the database and with DELLs support system.

I got help from my jobs IT department today, so now its fixed:). The thing is to call them and force sombody to uppdate the database with the designated tag no. (Norwegian support number is  67117575)

Have a nice day!

Your right!  Compared to you mine has been a short time!  Yet, it is still NOT in the database and have called dell repeatedly!

Re: Service Tag for Windows 7 upgrade not in the system, help.

Hey all, Let me try to help with the Service Tag not being recognized. Send in a private conversation your Service Tag, OS, and System Type. I can verify the eligibility of your system and get you added to register.

Talk to you soon, Mandy @ Dell
