Intel® 7.1 channel High Definition Audio and DirectX

Does the Intel HD audio that is standard on the XPS 9000 support DirectX 9 or higher?  I bought software that requires it and before I break the seal on I want to make sure I can use it.

Re: Intel® 7.1 channel High Definition Audio and DirectX

The Dell downloads list the Integrated audio as "Realtek ALC888 HD Audio, not "Intel".

However, Direct X 9 has been out since the beginning of Windows XP, so anything current would support at least DirectX9.

If you have Vista or Windows 7, just click on the start icon and then dxdiag and press enter, the DX diagnostic screen will come up and one of the items wil be the version of DirectX that you have (I have Windows 7 and it shows DirectX11).  It will also have two audio tabs and if there is a problem with the sound it will be noted.

Dimension E510 with D925 CPU and Vista Home Premium 32 bit

Sonar 8.5.1 ( Producer) DAW Software/Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 Recording Interface and Frontier Tranzport wireless controller.
