Anyone else having problems with VIA Audio drivers and WIN 7?

I have a brand new Dell Inspiron 546 desktop running Windows 7-64 bit with integrated audio (VIA technologies).  I've owned the machine for approximately 2 weeks and have already needed to reinstall the audio drivers (VIA) on 3 separate occasions because the audio would stop coming out of the speakers.  Prior to reinstalling the drivers, I've always gone to Dell's website and downloaded the latest drivers which is marked Urgent and had been updated as of 10/25/2009.  I've always selected Win 7-64 bit to retrieve these drivers and have not considered trying Vista drivers at this time.

I have an email into Dell's customer support, but I fear that they will just blame this on incompatibilities with Windows 7 given that it is such a new OS - which isn't difficult to believe.  That being said, I'm concerned that this could be a hardware related issue that could go unresolved for several months if the new OS is continuously blamed for my issue.

Anyone else having these problems?  Any other ideas or suggestions?  Your assistance is much appreciated!

Re: Anyone else having problems with VIA Audio drivers and WIN 7?

In many cases the Vista drivers work without problems on Windows 7, since Windows 7 is really Vista "improved'.   The VIA audio chipset is relatively new to Dell so there probably isn't much history with this device.

I had the Windows 7 64 bit RC1 Beta version installed on my Desktop and ALL the Vista drivers worked without problems.  I upgraded my Laptop (has RealTek audio) from Vista Home Premium 32 bit to Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit and ALL the Vista drivers were Windows 7 compatible and no new drivers were needed.

But, we have several posts of problems with the SoundBlaster Xfi sound cards and Windows 7.  SoundBlaster has some Beta Windows 7 drivers for some of the Xfi models (but now all) and they seem to be working.

fireberd, I appreciate your quick response!  I went ahead and installed the Vista 64 bit VIA audio drivers and will give it a shot.  After reading several other posts, I was already leaning towards this and you finally convinced me to give it the ol' college try.
